Borderlands 3 has been officially announced, more details coming on April 3rd

2K Games and Gearbox have officially announced Borderlands 3. Unfortunately, though, the publisher did not reveal any additional details other than the game’s official debut trailer that you can find below.

Borderlands 3 will be powered by Unreal Engine and seems to  be visually similar to Borderlands 2. This may disappoint some people as the graphical jump between Borderlands 2 and 3 appears to be really small.

But anyway, Gearbox will reveal more details about Borderlands 3 on April 3rd so stay tuned for more!

    1. Going to guess they’ve been developing thw game and not focusing on much else.

Honestly, what kind of graphical leap did people expect from these games?

      1. Idk. I was at least expecting PBR and better lighting/shadows.

Improvements to those would make the game look wayy better while still respecting the art style

  1. theyre waiting for the 3rd to say its exclusive to Epic Store for fear that the PAX East people would hang them.

    1. I would hope like VTMB 2 it releases on both Steam and Epic. But I fear you might be right, that huge boo from people scared them. Also everything announced today was for Steam I believe.

      Woulda been weird!

      1. You didn’t enjoy stepdad Randy’s Birthday Magic Show? clearly you dont know what entertainment is then!

  2. Is it me or is the 4 main character look unappealing this time? Graphical leap is small since it took so long for them to finally make a third game. Sucker are going to buy this games anyway regardless of what.

  3. Not gonna judge everything but one thing is for sure…visually this looks just like Borderlands 2 with maybe a bit more objects on screen! WTF happened to the result of those fancy tech demos they presented few years back?!!

        1. I agree…repetitive mission and play design. Pick mission from point A and travel to point B to acquire/kill/active something. Repeat this 100x times…credits roll!

  4. The presentation was a complete joke, couldn’t play videos properly for 2 or 3 times, and what they showed look like a retarded ugly and stupid version of borderlands 2, graphics and effects looked pretty much the same, yet dickford said they’ve been working on that for 5 years. And they avoided talking about which platform it’ll be released because it’s probably going to be Epic turds store. Videogaming world really keeps going down.

Besides John, why do you keep using that ugly fanmade banner, since there’s an official one?
    Nice one.

  5. Borderlands 1 6/10 kinda fun here hint (don’t play it if you played Borderlands 2 first because you will feel like the game miss alot of fun element and that’s why i give it 6/10) XD
    Borderlands 2 10/10 perfect game
    Borderlands pre-sequel 8/10 (almost perfect)
Borderlands 3 from the trailer i think it’s going to be 10/10 let’s wait and see after the release
and one more thing gearbox please release it on steam because all my friend and my game collection on steam 🙂

      1. Gabe will pay nothing and I don’t want Steam/Valve to pay for any exclusives like Epic Games is doing.

    1. I wish people would stop crying over everything. Game is going to be fun and all I see is negative BS below. Even so called fans of the originals are crying on youtube… Yet the real gamers are saying how awesome it looks and welcome it into the series

          1. And most of the time for a good reason, if you think everything in this s**t show of an industry and where the games are heading is good and worth celebrating for, share it with us please. don’t get me wrong, i don’t have anything against the new Borderlands trailer and it’s graphics (It’s fine) since the whole generation we only saw good and shiny graphics but below average games, so it won’t bother me.

  6. I dunno what people want. Even BL1 from 2009 still holds up nicely because of the art style.

This game will have better shadows, better particle effects, better post-processing, higher Rez, cleaner textures, better animations, bigger maps.

Borderlands 1 and 2 were some of the best implementations of Unreal Engine 3 for 2009 and 2012 respectively. I expect nothing less for BL3, given they have been working on it for 5 years.

  7. and on my monster pc ryzen 7 1700 16 gb ddr4 3200mhzcl15 gs kill rip jaws gtx 970 g1 gaming dellp2416d 24” 2560×1440 60 hz ips on max settings 1440p it wil look 10 times better than it!
