OtherSide Entertainment has announced that, in light of Starbreeze’s current situation, the two studios decided together that it would be best for them to go their separate ways. As such, Starbreeze is no longer attached to this project.
Furthermore, OtherSide has revealed that the game is halfway completed and that it already feels like a System Shock game, while at the same time introduces new elements to the franchise.
As Warren Spector said:
“We parted ways with Starbreeze (amicably), which means we are in the process of lining up a new publishing partner. Happily, given the pedigree of System Shock and the progress we’ve made so far there’s already a lot of interest. Has the situation affected development? Not really. The team is still, as we say, ‘psyched and cranking’ – in other words, continuing as normal. I’m confident we can bring System Shock 3 to market and have it take its place as a leading title in the immersive simulation genre.”
OtherSide will reveal more details about System Shock 3 soon so stay tuned for more!

Hmm, after Underworld Ascendant I’m going to remain skeptical
This seems too quick fot my liking
SS3 was announced about a year after SS1 remake. Remake is no where near completion. So, it’s a bit concerning 3 would be half done.
“halfway completed” so was Underworld Ascendant on release.
This is one of those that remains in development limbo (Black Mesa) or releases half broken (Underworld Ascendant).
It’s unlikely that they will meet the expectations. I feel like they don’t have the resources. They’d have to be a big studio to pull it off properly, in my opinion.
Half-way completed without a single screenshot released? I don’t believe you…
Underworld Ascendant has literally nothing to do with this. Warren Spector is the original designer of System Shock and he didn’t work on that game.
That games problem wasnt the gameplay, it was the fact it was broken.
after the failure of broken games(fallour 76 anthem e.t.c) i dont beleive they will risk releasing like that. Look at capcom success with resident evil 2 and devil may cry 5. that how you make a good game(good and game not technical issues).
Games keep releasing unfinished because that’s all you can do when your funds run out and your game isn’t finished. You release it. You try to find someone to give you more money and when noone does you just release whatever you have. Modern games have more “moving parts” so to speak, so it’s even easier now than in the past to trip up in some unexpected way and to take way more time or money for some feature than you anticipated.
The point is, unfinished games don’t happen because the makers get greedy, they happen because of bad planning. And bad planning isn’t going anywhere. If anything it’s on the rise.
prey 2018 is the new system shock !
