Star Citizen Alpha 3.3-2

Star Citizen is free to play for a week and you can start downloading right now

Cloud Imperium has announced that Star Citizen will be free to play for a week; from November 23rd to November 30th and PC gamers can start downloading and playing the game right now. During this Free Fly period, anyone can join Star Citizen’s Persistent Universe for free.

According to the developers, players will be able to experience Star Citizen first-hand, and every day at 8am PST, a different ship manufacturer in the game will make its entire flyable fleet available for a 24-hour test flight period.

Cloud Imperium has also made a special Convention Center where players can get a first-hand look at the ships offered for the day. To help everyone get to Hurston, all players will be granted access to a Cutlass Black to fly for the duration of the event. To rent a ship from the show floor, players will have to walk up to it, open the Interaction menu as if they were going to buy it, and then select RENT.

Cloud Imperium has detailed the game’s schedule here and those interested can download the game from here. Do note that you will need to create an account in order to play the game.

Have fun everyone!

  1. Starts about 4-5pm in Europe. If you decide buy a game package you can use this code to get 5000 in-game UEC credits. STAR-NFRP-Q6QX

          1. Servers are back up, everything seems to be working as well, can rent ships in the expo

      1. There is a memory leak which is in the process of being fixed and OCS needs some tweaking still. Also try switching servers, exit to the menu and try again, you might get a better server as it might be the strain as well.

      2. It is almost mandatory to install on SSD. That alone can add +10 fps.

My Rig is more than average (5 years old with I5 and GTX 780) but I got +40fps with very few drop in some Lorville locations.

        1. Man i cant go any where im stuck in the spaceship station i cant claim my ship it im prohibitive thats what the monitor said

  2. Can someone explain this to me the game is gonna cost 60$ it’s obvious but the thing i dont understand is this does ship cost real money to get it or you can unlock it while youn are playing

    1. It’s $40 for a game package with a ship, 1000UAC credits, you can buy ships in game but at the moment they’re really expensive and the missions don’t give much credit. Buying ships with real money is funding the game, it’s not required to play the game, you can also upgrade your ships to other at any time. Also, you can ask people in chat to borrow you a ship or go multi-crew with them.

I’d be more than willing to borrow someone a ship, it just requires the owner to unlock the ship and spawn it on the pad. If you destroy it you won’t get it back of course.

    2. this is a scam masquerading as an ongoing game development crowdfunding…

this scam officially started in 2012, but the dev themselves stated that prior to that they had been working for a year, so the whole thing started in 2011… however here’s the kicker, even the 1st ship that they made back then in 2011-2012 and the one that they used to showcase the original crowdfunding is still NOT even completed in any way as they themselves intended the ship to be… (I’m talking about the F7 Hornet series) they have been selling that ship since 2012, and they haven’t even completed it after this amount of time and money given to them.

wanna know something even worse? well turns out that the real developer who made those original crowdfunding media promotion materials were Crytek, and this is including the ship I talked about in the above.

      1. What ship was that?(I see you edited your comment to say it was the Hornet). F7C Hornet and it’s variants have been in the game for years now, with overalls.

        Currently flyable in-game:

        F7C Hornet
        F7C Hornet Wildfire
        F7C-S Hornet Ghost
        F7C-R-Hornet Tracker
        F7C-M Super Hornet

        1. Nope, that is not how these things are supposed to work, otherwise it’s ongoing scam, here’s an easy comparison.

DCS F18 Hornet (heh, pun) is being sold with promised features like working JHMCS and A/G radar.

As long as the developer don’t deliver on those promise then it’s fair to call them lying and scamming.

Not relevant to SC but DCS developer has been delivering some of the features in relatively short time after initial sales of the game module.

Not so with SC, show us if you can…

Where is the Hornet Tracker “AWACS” gameplay mechanics?
Where is the Hornet Ghost stealth gameplay?
Heck, where is the ship modularity mechanics that allow us to change the ship engines and other components?

There are still far more missing things like the Banu Merchantman ship (completely nonexistent since initial sale in 2013, not even hangar ready now in the end of 2018)

Bomber ships, like gladiator and retaliator, is there even any actual realized bombing gameplay? Even if such mechanics exist by now, you would still need to show us unique mechanics that can differentiate between a gladiator and a retaliator other than the max possible number of crews… Heck nevermind that, multicrew gameplay is almost nonexistent to this day anyway.

How about the Avenger ship series? It was originally supposed to be a bounty hunting ship that allows you to detain criminals on the back of that ship, is that even possible now? Heck nevermind possible, actually I haven’t even ever seen CIG demonstrated criminal detaining gameplay mechanics, despite using those concept as selling point for their ships since 2013!

I could write an essay full of questioning regarding where are those missing promises.

          Yep, this is a scam.

          1. Don’t write an essay @Napo… promises are unfulfilled only after release, not during project development 🙂

Naysayers said: “space to planet smooth transition is decades away” back in 2017…. we are in 2018 and thousands of videos made by many backers or independent youtuber proving it was another from those few trying to soil this +2 millions accounts project. Keep coming @napo 🙂

          2. Well, that’s because scanning has been implemented in 3.1.X. I should imagine the advanced scanning of certain ships will come later, but as of now certain ships can scan faster, give data about the ship being scanned, the rocks been scanned and their composition.

            2015 post:

            “Hunter Ship: Origin 325A
            Target Ship: Anvil F7C-S
            Arena: Broken Moon

            Stealth mechanics are currently implemented
in the public build of Arena Commander, and are more robust than we had anticipated. If these mechanics are carried over into the PU as-is, we can expect to see stealth craft have a significant, albeit situational, advantage over their adversaries.

            To summarize:

running cold presents a lower risk of detection than running
hot with shields and weapons powered up. Background clutter further reduces the ability of other craft to resolve your ship’s cross section, and impairs the ability of cross-section missiles to acquire a lock.”

      2. Roberts has raised way, way more money than all other crowd funded projects combined. According to their site it’s a little over 200 million dollars so far and the last 2 years they have raised about 35 million dollars each year so I see no reason why there won’t be tens of millions more in the future.

But I don’t believe it’s a scam. If it were a scam then Roberts wouldn’t be paying so many employees to develop the game and at the end of the day if he never finishes the game then he would be throwing away potentially hundreds of millions of dollars in sales when the game is finished. No one in their right mind would throw away an opportunity at making that kind of money.

I’m waiting until the game is finished (Squadron 42) and then decide whether to buy it or not like many, many others are. If it turns out to be as great as I think it will then it will be the first game in many years that I will pay full price for.

        1. His project looks WAY but WAYYYY better than any other crowfunding too. Like i know that’s a lot of money but when you think about it, 200M after 5-7years down the road isn’t THATT much. But it’s still alot.

        2. (You:I’m waiting until the game is finished (Squadron 42).
so it is 2 separate game squadron 42 and star citizen ?

          1. From what I gather Squadron 42 is a single player campaign that is set in the Star Citizen universe. It’s all that I am interested in from this project but probably most people will be interested in the multiplayer part of the game.

          2. Yes it was spitted in two separate game experience 3 years ago. Squadron 42 is the solo and modern counterpart of past critically acclaimed Wing Commanders series from CR.

Star Citizen is the MMO, using many SQ42 lore and assets plus of course more (more planets, more locations, more ships.. more of everything) as it start where SQ42 finish.

Pledge is around 50$ + 30$ extra for both. Nice for those not interested by one or the other gameplay experience. Anniversary period is going to provide option to pledge at a discount as well as contribute with more expensive ships, not available all year long.

          3. Yes, its split into two games. Getting SQ42 and playing Sq42 gets you citizenship in Star Citizen, which gives you bonuses and such. (Think of being a citizen in the roman empire). W/o SQ42 you can still be a citizen but it’ll take longer and you’ll have to do more. W/ SQ42 you just finish the game and automatically gain citizenship in Star Citizen.

    3. Everything is achievable with in game credits. Of course do not expect to get a Capital ship after two mining run 🙂

PS: @napoleonic sp007rz is one of the remaining resident naysayers/troll shooting scam. I am pretty sure that he will keep its hater loop years after release, being so deep in its destruction mood 🙂

    4. No you can buy in game ships, using in game currency. Feel free to use my referal code STAR-TT6N-HNJ9 for 5,000 UEC that you can put towards the in game ship 🙂
Using my referal code doesn’t bind me to you, or you to me. You just get 5,000 UEC and I get a cool new “Reciter” title on the forums.

  3. I watched a very indepth video on YT about Star Citizen recently. The jist of it was, at this point they just keep releasing new ships to the detriment of the work put into the actual game. The new ships keep people buying but it also prevents the devs from finishing the game sooner. Just what I’ve heard. I’m not too informed otherwise on this game. Looks incredible though, if they’re able to pull it off.

      1. No they won’t… Just look at Warframe. Instead of releasing more content it just released more frames that are rehashed/mashups of the older frames. Once Dev get into that habit, there is no breaking out of it, because the playerbase now believes that’s what the game is all about. It’s a downward spiral and no one notices it till they are already in too deep.

    1. Simply false. There is not a big team dedicated to working on ships and it’s become a lot more efficient from concept to flyable

    2. Some folks around love to spit on this project. What CIG call concept ship won’t be available for a year or two for some, only those used for SQ42 (solo) are prioritized and were always scheduled for it.

+500 employees with uptodate pipelines using PG for not only locations (planets, moons…) but also buildings and big ships interiors. CIG is far more advanced than what we see in SC, to be released after Squadron 42, for which a roadmap is expected by the end of December.

Last note: only a 45$ or so starter package is required… Nothing more.

  4. Hey guys, when creating an account, be sure to use the referal code
STAR-TT6N-HNJ9 and get an additional 5,000 UEC that is bound to your account.

The game is currently selling in game ships. You start out with 10,000 UEC. Using the referal code you get 5,000 additional UEC. Missions grant you 200-300 UEC and take a fair amount of time per mission. Using the referal code you start off with extra money, and have more time to explore the game, and not grind. Using the referal code does not bind me to you, or you to me.

It simply gets you 5,000 extra UEC, and I get a cool new “Recruiter” name tag.

  5. Except you can’t even do a lot of what SC can do now and that looks like a 2008 game.Yeah exactly what you expect for a 1 million funded game.

  6. Blobber hasnt remotely said SC has done it first. hes specifically referring to derek smart who constantly craps on the game and tries to pass himself off as a technical wizard that knows everything just cus hes been a game dev for 30 years and still no one knows him for his games cus there all dumpster fires said back in 2015 on the Elite Dangerous forums no less that space to planet transitions is decades away and not even SC with $100+mill (at that time) can do it.

Since then (not including infinity) there has also been ED, no mans sky, dual universe and beyond good and evil 2 there might even be a few more but thats all i can think of. SC was an idea about a decade before then actually but he didnt start acting on it till 2011.

  7. Maybe I’m just tired and missing something very obvious but I can’t freaking find a download link to save my life. Their website is just confusing AF.

EDIT: Never mind. Turns out I just needed to make and account first.

  8. You can download it and keep it for next free week-end. Only 5 to 10Gb to download next time. Still too much if you have limited bandwidth but better than get 45Gb each time 🙂

  9. I just repeat what the “Master of all Troll” is saying, nothing less. That is precisely the point. Troll do whatever they can to destroy any targeted project.

Lies even gross like this one while it has been done already by others? Not an issue, the bigger the better 🙂
