Capcom has announced that a remaster version of Onimusha: Warlords is coming to current-gen platforms. Originally released in 2001, Onimusha: Warlords successfully blended thrilling action with a cinematic story to achieve over 2 million copies sold worldwide.
Onimusha: Warlords will come with updated features including high-definition graphics, widescreen display option, analog stick support, a readily available Easy Mode option, and new soundtrack.
Onimusha: Warlords follows the battle-filled journey of samurai Samanosuke Akechi and ninja Kaede on a quest to save Princess Yuki from a legion of mysterious demons who have invaded Inabayama Castle. As the two travel throughout the castle, they unravel a malevolent plot by those who would serve the evil lord Nobunaga Oda. Using sword-based combat, a magical Oni Gauntlet and puzzle solving, players need to call on both brawn and creativity to defeat the demonic foes.
Naturally, don’t expect major visual differences between this remaster and the original PS2 version. The textures for example still look blurry. It’s a basically an enhanced version, similar to what SEGA did with Shenmue I and II.
Enjoy!

Resident evil with samurais, why not make a sequel to that old series? Shouldnt cost too much and it will be more interesting than modern games.
Ya! Had a blast with that game back in highschool!
YES!
Never finished it on PS2, will do on PC now 🙂
And here I had nearly forgot how s**t voice acting in games used to be…
“Take.. a… look at this……….. It’s Forest……. Oh…my….. cod………….”
Not sure Onimusha has anything on par with this beauty.
wut
only the first one?
why not a full collection of all 4 games?
They are testing the waters before fully committing.
I’m actually a bit pissed that Capcom would treat this classic with such disregard, and give it the most basic of treatments to re-release it in the modern day.
I mean…. couldn’t put even a little TLC in to it, and have texture work done to it at the very least? I’ll sooner just stick with my original PS2 version really.
Disappointing, Capcom. Just when you looked like you were starting to “get it”.
Well they did just sell a 6 month old barbones forced console parity port job of MHW, and it’s selling like hotcakes on PC. They must now think it’s A-ok to deliver whatever quality they can to PC gamers, even if it means absolute barebones.
Ehh, I’d rather just have a new Onimusha game than play a Remastered game, or a Remake in the same vain as REmake.
pc gamers are so pathetic
This game has a PC version back there but only release in asia..the port quality is mediocre but I hope they use the ps2 version this time as a base instead that Asian pc version
If only this were released a few years earlier, back when dx9 would be used for such a port. That way texmod could be used to mod the textures. Likely going to be a dx11 renderer nowadays.
cheap f*ks just couldnt bundle all thew onimusha games together? f*k crapc*m. just emulate the series.
