New Assassin’s Creed Odyssey trailer focuses on naval combat and exploration

Ubisoft has released a new trailer for Assassin’s Creed Odyssey in which developers discuss ship customization, recruitment, and naval combat. In Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, players can take a ship and explore the islands of ancient Greece.

The map in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey will be huge and since the sea needs to be seamless (as this time it’s open everywhere around players), Ubisoft has made some tech improvements to its wave and water simulation system. As such, waves will be coming and dying on the beaches and there will be big waves when players go far away in the ocean.

Naval combat, according to the developers, will be more fast-paced, more closed-range and more intense than before. People will shoot javelins and arrows and the boats will have very high accelerations so that they can be more mobile.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey releases on October 5th!

  1. They made the ships able to turn really quickly now. Like that’s a good thing? And the dude swung a pole underwater at a shark as fast as he would’ve not underwater? I was already out, but that just looks stupid.

    1. That’s how stealth was handled is previous ac games by blending in with the crowd, it felt authentic. There was even an entire memory sequence dedicated to this in ac 2 for Ezio to learn how to blend in crowd as a part of assassins training.
Now we just press crouch and walk like an ape and I don’t know how that is better stealth mechanic than blending in with the crowd.

    2. This series has been floundering since Desmond died. They started making everyone an assassin. I liked the bloodline connection that made people unique. It just feels like they are going through the motions without a coherent plot to continue making these games for money.

  2. Yup, I spent more time looking up how to get thru it as quickly as possible because it was so bad. Horrible controls and pointless features.

Would have been fine with a cool cutscene.
