MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries has been delayed to 2019

Piranha Games’ president, Arman Nouri, has announced that MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries has been delayed until 2019. And even though there isn’t any specific date yet, Piranha Games hopes to announce one at MechCon 2018 in December.

According to the developers, MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries will be the first single-player MechWarrior experience since 2002, which is why the team wants some extra time in order to deliver the best possible experience.

Piranha Games also confirmed that a robust playable demo will be available at MechCon 2018.

Alongside its single-player mode, MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries will feature intense PvE ‘Mech combat in an immersive, career-based Mercenary campaign driven by player choice. The game will be powered by the Unreal Engine 4, will support mods as well as 4-player co op mode.

  1. Good, let the game be in development for as long as it’s necessary in order to make a great game. It’s the first true Mechwarrior game in 16 years, we deserve the best game we can possible get otherwise the series probably will die out completely.

  2. “Intense PvE Mech combat”

Piranha is making a single player experience and yet they are using MMO terms like PvE, as if the content of a single player game could be anything else.

I truly hope they are not just using MW4 (and MW4:M) as a baseline for this “re-design” hiatus, but recognizing the worth and unbelievable longevity involved by including a full on multiplayer mode that is easily integrated and faithfully fleshed out from the sp game.

It’s even more shocking to me that there isn’t any members of Piranha (who’ve spent the last 5-6 years with MW Online) that remember this. Thousands and thousands of people involved in 8v8 planetary leagues based off the mp of those games. It’s basically what MWO was all about!
