Boss Key Productions admits that LawBreakers has flopped, is working on a new game

Boss Key Productions has publicly admitted that LawBreakers has failed commercially. And while the team claimed that it is is determined to give this game the second life it deserves, it will now focus on new projects.

As Boss Key Productions stated:

“The fact is LawBreakers failed to find enough of an audience to generate the funds necessary to keep it sustained in the manner we had originally planned for and anticipated.  And while a pivot to free-to-play may seem like easiest change to make, a change of this magnitude takes publishing planning and resources to do it.”

Boss Key Productions claimed that it will will continue to support the game in its current state. Moreover, the team has been working on something new that will reveal soon.

  1. Hope blez learn from his mistake and make something new I’m 100% the new game will be battle royal he likea to copy games

  2. If its single player without micro-transactions then I might be interested. Thats unlikely to happen though, it will probably be another “me too” game, im guessing something battle royal.

    1. Card Trading Battle Royale with Hats and Zombies, set in the LawBreakers Cinematic Universe ™. You play as a gender neutral Loot Crate.

      1. It worked so well for the last Wolfenstein and Mass Effect games plus the merchandising for the current-latest Star Wars movie!

        1. Those games didn’t got the huge bucks. Diversity is something you patch it in, like Blizzard Overwatch(the name is quite fitting given the Orwellian efforts of Blizzard lately)

          1. I wonder if Ubisoft will do so with some DLC for Far Cry 5 following the SJWs at Polygon, Gamespot, Kotaku and PC Gamer having been so traumatised.

          2. It was pretty diverse. Also, diversity kinda works in this game, it fits its “Pixar-esque character mishmash” tone.

          3. So pray tell why they retconned some characters to be lesbians/homosexuals after the game sold million of copies? Same with the draconian/orwellian code of conduct implanted later. Too scared to go full SJW right from the start?

  3. Cliffy B, speaking of this game in late 2014:
“I’m DETERMINED to not do Pay To Win. Since this game is a shooter I want that one player who likes the game and doesn’t feel like spendingany money to be able to take down the trust fund kid that’s spent a ton of money to have All The Stuff.”

    His company today:
“….a pivot to free-to-play may seem like easiest change to make, a change of this magnitude takes publishing planning and resources to do it.”

Thus revealing his originally stated reasoning to have been BS for PR purposes. Unless we’re expected to believe that turning the game into F2P wouldn’t bring with it P2W aspects. They’ve now admitted that they won’t make it F2P and consequently most likely also P2W because of a lack of publishing support rather than in consequence of their claimed high moral virtues.

          1. You’re welcome. Not that I’m surprised that you of all people are so easily confused.

    1. What comes out of Cliffy B’s mouth is always BS.
The game was announced as an old school arena shooter only for PC, then a year and a half later it was revealed that it was another “hero shooter” and would also be released on PS4.

    2. Oh cmon, you can’t catch Cliffy in the act, he is too obvious for that.

      Btw it’s true F2P doesn’t mean P2W automatically, that’s a fact.

      1. True, it can also mean Pay 2 Not Grind So Much (But Still Grind A Lot Any Way) or P2NGSM(BSGALAW) for short.

  4. Cliffy B creativity drive was with Gears of War series, this game is generic trash and deserves to flop. Try harder next time Cliffy (or don’t)

    1. Fair enough, Gears of War was a console seller alongside Halo, since the series stuck with the xbox 360 was what i’m trying to say.

      1. I’d like to make a point that he wasn’t the only one solely responsible for the success of Unreal Tournament franchise.

  5. I respect Cliffy for being an independent-minded kind of dude who wants to control his creative destiny but I think he was a bit too bold and overconfident for his own good. You can’t sling your balls around when you’re swimming in a pond with games like Overwatch and PUBG and think you can compete because of a successful game you made 10-12 years ago.

We’re in a hyper-competitive, “what have you done for me lately?” culture. What you years ago past means next to nothing now.

    1. “I respect Cliffy for being an independent-minded kind of dude who wants to control his creative destiny ”

And yet his best games are in the hands of Microsoft and Epic. Makes u think

  6. ““The fact is LawBreakers failed to find enough of an audience to generate the funds necessary to keep it sustained in the manner we had originally planned for and anticipated. ”

Every game that panders to sjws…meanwhile kingdom come is selling like crazy.

  7. Their next game will probably be a break of make deal. I don’t think it would be ideal this time around to exclude other systems, especially PC.

Why not make a decent game with a co-op or single player experience, rather than an always online game filled with MT’s?.

  8. Maybe Bleszinski can keep his ego in check this time. Last time this guy made anything worthwhile, I was still in highschool.

  9. “Boss Key Productions admits that LawBreakers has flopped, is working on a new flop”

Fixed the title, there was a typo in it

  10. i only liked the first unreal and return to na pali, and i hate gears of war so it’s been 20 years since cliffy b made a game i liked. I knew this was going to be a failure ever since the first announcement, i am glad to be proven right and suck it cliffy
