New Final Fantasy XV mod improves TurfEffects grass, makes it taller

Reddit’s member ‘null-subject’ has released a new mod for Final Fantasy XV. This mod improves the TurfEffects grass by making it flatten quicker and stay flattened longer. Moreover, it introduces a variant that makes the grass taller.

The latest version of this mod comes with a second variant which makes the grass stay flattened forever, and a third variant which is a mix of the previous two. It also comes with a new standard version. This one tweaks a couple of more things like average grass height (to a much lesser extent than the taller variant, and on a grass type by grass type basis), and it further improves grass collision, and trails. The modder has also added backup files in case someone screws things up.

Basically, this is a must-have mod for all those using the TurfEffects grass as it will showcase these effects better than the game’s vanilla version.

Those interested can download the mod from here. In order to install it, you’ll simply have to copy and paste the files – for the type of grass you prefer – to your Final Fantasy XV/TurfEffects folder.

Below you can find a comparison between the taller grass (left) and the vanilla grass (right).

  1. Interesting how modders can mod closed source Gameworks but nobody can use open source GPUOpen. ? ?

    1. Change preset has nothing to do with source code and GPUopen is used in many games, but AMD does not force any developers to promote that.
Developers can actually change every piece of code as they wish under current GPUopen licence.
Also if community needs to mod or fix something, it means it was kind of broken in the first place (which doesn’t need to be a good thing). Like in this case, huge performance hit with minor visual impact which this mod adjust.

  2. i hope they make preset like low avg for mid range cards decrease draw distance and density for turf

    1. There are probably lot of things they can adjust, question is: Will it have any positive performance impact. From experience I would not hope for that 🙂
