Space Hulk: Tactics is a new Warhammer 40K turn-based tactical game, releasing later this year

Focus Home Interactive and Cyanide have announced a new turn-based tactical game that is based on the Warhammer 40K universe, Space Hulk: Tactics. In order to celebrate this announcement, the publisher revealed the game’s first screenshots that you can view below.

In Space Hulk: Tactics, players will engage in bloody battles through an immense Space Hulk – a twisted mass of asteroids, wrecked ships and debris – as either a squad of Terminator Space Marines or the deadly alien Genestealers.

The game will feature two distinct, narrative-driven campaigns, from the points of view of two different factions: one campaign puts you in control of a Blood Angels squad, which you will customise and upgrade as you progress, while the other puts you in control of the Genestealers for the first time in a Space Hulk game.

Space Hulk: Tactics is based on the rules of the popular board game, given a fresh new spin in the form of the unique Card system. Cards give more ways to customize your squad before a match, and allow you to turn the tides of battle with abilities that trigger game-changing effects when used at the right moment.

The game will feature online multiplayer functionalities that will let players command a swarm of Genestealers or a custom squad of different unit types from one of four Space Marine Chapters – the Blood Angels, the Space Wolves, the Ultramarines, and the Dark Angels. Multiplayer modes and tools will offer a rich and deep online experience, and include an intuitive map creation tool, which will give players everything they need to create original maps with custom objective, and share them with other players to play either online or against the AI, all from within the game.

Space Hulk: Tactics is currently planned for a 2018 release.

Enjoy!

  1. I honestly wish TBS games would take a back seat for a while. It seems to be the main spam and go to for strategy games these days, even RPG’s.

  2. Guys, some people enjoy more complex turn-based games. There’s plenty of action games out there to scratch that itch.

    1. I think the issues is that lost of Warhammer 40K games are strategy such as Dawn of War or turn based games and people want more like Space Marine.

    2. It’s the perfect genre for the games, since the board game is overly complex, and to be honest the best Warhammer 40k games have always been the tactical strategy games since the early 90s when they started making them. The only deviation from strategy that worked that was outside the realm of mediocre to decent was Space Hulk.

  4. I like Turn based combat like X-Com or Fire Emblem or Divinity OS series with little strategy in them, but standing infront of each other and hitting each other with RnG card system on top of the usual random stuff like miss chance etc… and worst another promise of a tactical Warhammer game, i’m not sure.
