Devil May Cry HD Collection will support 4K resolutions and beyond on the PC

Last week, Capcom revealed that Devil May Cry HD Collection would not support 4K resolutions on consoles (PS4Pro and Xbox One X). Naturally, a lot believed that the same applied to the PC version. However, and as we suspected, the PC version of Devil May Cry HD Collection will support 4K resolutions and beyond.

As Capcom’s WBacon revealed when asked about the Steam release of Devil May Cry HD Collection:

“The engine and game code/logic is likely tied to the video refresh cycle. The game will support resolutions 4K and beyond though.”

The good news here is that All Devil May Cry games were originally running at 60fps. Similarly to Okami HD, the game code/logic will be most likely tied to the video refresh cycle. As such, don’t expect higher framerates than 60fps. Still, this is better than the 30fps of Okami HD.

Devil May Cry HD Collection is coming to the PC on March 13th!

  1. I just want a proper PC port of DMC3 and not resort to PCSX2. And I already own the HD collection for my PS3 too. :3

      1. I know but it’s a pain to set up and just making the PC port playable means you have to make compromises on the soundtrack.

Plus, if this new port is better (which should be) they can incorporate the style mod in this one too. :3

      2. How is it still broken with the style switch mod?

Only things wrong with it is that a few sound effects are gone and some enemies are shaded differently than the ps2 version.

The upside is that I can play it with all styles and up to 5 projectile/melee weapons at once. Also able to run it at 1440p up to 250 fps but I cap it at 120 because the speed boost is too much.

The soundtracks plays too with no performance dip as long as Forcemode is set to a certain value (don’t remember it at the top of my head but its in the instructions that come with the mod). Also it only takes roughly 10 minutes to install if you read the instructions word for word..

  2. Why the hell didn’t Okami run at 60hz Capcom really are the laziest developers. A shadow of their former selves regurgitating the same old rubbish. Let’s just keep re releasing our old games as the idiots keep buying them.

    1. Okami is a PS2-era game, ported to the PS3 with the same 30 FPS cap. Our port is based on the HD remaster done for the PS3, which didn’t include remastering the game for 60 FPS, unfortunately. CAPCOM should have arguably given us 60 FPS, sure, but at the end of the day, it’s worth keeping in mind that this is an ancient game.

      1. Yes fair comment it is very old although, a great and unique game. Just a pity Capcom didn’t put more effort in, i’m sure that they could have got it running at 60hz if they really wanted to.

  3. No 4K support for those consoles is just odd. And it means the menus or HUD in general aren’t going to look proper in 4K

    1. Capcom is just lazy. If PC is getting official 4k support, then there’s no reason PS4 and XBox One can’t handle running a PS2 game at 4k either.
