Assassin’s Creed Origins Patch 1.1.0 releases tomorrow, adds HDR support & addresses downgrade-ation reports

Ubisoft has announced that a new patch for Assassin’s Creed Origins will release tomorrow. According to the release notes, the Assassin’s Creed Origins patch 1.1.0 will add HDR support on the PC, will improve Performance Tools functionality and will fix the stuttering issues on NVIDIA graphic cards when playing in borderless mode.

Moreover, and after the controversy surrounding the game’s downgraded visuals, this latest update will improve texture streaming selection to allow for more high-resolution texture, will fix loading grid setups for tall palm tree fields to improve their view distance and will fix far shadow popping transition issue when updated during the time of day cycle. Furthermore, the Assassin’s Creed Origins update 1.1.0 will improve the distance at which the game displays the higher quality fake geometry of Alexandria, the view distance of the Siwa temple and the level of details of the Hemon Mastaba location.

As such, Assassin’s Creed Origins will look better than what it looks now. However, it will be interesting to see whether these additional improvements will have any performance impact (or whether they will affect the VRAM usage).

This patch will also add a new “Nightmare” difficulty mode, a new “Horde Mode” to the Arena and an NPC scaling option.

    1. Why?
If you like the series and/or want to try something new, I see no harm.
      But ok…

DC: Granted they have had issues on release day, everyone has for the most part, but seriously, if you like it, why not support them, that goes for every dev or pub? Then again, what do I know, Steam link in my profile. I might just be more rich than stupid.

      1. Might as well just say never buy any AAA game on launch day or come to think of it any game on launch day. That is the reality of of where we stand for pretty much everyone these days.

Ubisoft is not the only one that patches their games after release, others are way worse to the degree of what is being fixed completed post launch.

        1. “Mr policeman please dont arrest me, I only killed 5 people. But others
killed more so Im not that bad”

Are you really trying to sell me this fucced up logic?

          1. I am not trying to sell anything, hate and boycott any company you want.

So you don’t agree that almost every AAA game this year has been patched post release and are not complete?

I am not saying things are awesome they are not, but this is how the industry is and it’s not going to change. This is factual not a opinion.

          2. No, he’s saying don’t buy any game at launch which is correct.

EDIT: Okay he may not have been sincere about that part, but it’s obviously true.

        2. >Might as well just say never buy any AAA game on launch day or come to think of it any game on launch day.

          Correct.

      1. Wither 3 was actually pretty much a full, fully playable product on launch. Most of the patches were cream on top (this is, of course, compared to an EA or Ubi game, etc etc)

        1. i bought both games on launch and they are both the same in terms of launch performance issues it’s not like AC origins is bad port like unity it’s playable form me on gtx 970 and 4670k and i get 60 to 50 which was the same wiht W3 it’s just patches to fix issues and add things atleast it’s not Nier aoutomata

          1. In this rare instance I would have to disagree. Remember this is in comparison to other ‘triple A’ games — the game ran fairly well out of the box for a majority of people. Most of the patches to the game were to improve things (though obviously there were a lot of bugs fixed to). Remember — in comparison to other ‘triple A’ games.

          2. In comparison to other triple A games? I don’t play that game. Just because it’s good enough for the other guys in a buggy, glitchy, low performing state, doesn’t mean it should be good enough for everyone. My standards are higher than that.
If it’s not solid on day one, I generally don’t bother for years until it’s dirt cheap, and they’re losing money there.

          3. I actually agree with you completely and the more I think about it, the more I agree that, while I think it’s a ‘valid’ comparison in this instance, it’s not a comparison we should have to make as paying customers.

I would still argue that Witcher 3 out of the box was almost perfectly playing for the majority of people (I think I jumped in about a week later and I guess 1 or 2 patches would have dropped by then). But for me, I think you’re also right — ignoring the bugs (for the sake of argument), the patches -for me- added a lot of great improvements to the game (MUCH improved minimap for instance). And of course if they’d let the game bake in the over for another 2-4 weeks the game would have launched in better shape with many of these improvements.

I think the point I would like to make is that other ‘triple A’ games can literally launch almost unplayable for a majority of users, where as Witcher 3 wasn’t exactly in terrible shape.

But again, I would agree that this isn’t a discussion we should even be having!!! 😛
I mostly give games at least 3 months, usually longer, and wait till they’re on sale before buying them. Even if it’s a game that I have to play right away (very rare) I’ll wait a few days to make sure it’s not completely broken before jumping in.

          4. You’re definitely smart to wait on games when possible. Games simply, often, are not finished upon release. Development often continues for months after. Not only are you getting the better experience, you’re paying less for it. You can’t get that first experience back, so waiting for them to actually finish the game is the way to go.
Some devs push great, polished games (Uncharted, Mario, Infamous, Gears of War) but those games are becoming the exception.
The Witcher 3 on PC was pretty good, but the console versions were indeed in pretty rough shape, with a few scenes dropping into what seemed like the tens of frames per second at several marks. I initially tried to play the PS4 game and couldn’t handle it, eventually returning to the PC version. So, this time at least, the PC version came out pretty decent.

          5. And here I was apparently thinking Witcher 3 ran absolutely superb at launch (on PC). Because it did.

          6. If you could bother yourself to read, I stated the PC version was O.K.
You’re just arguing with yourself here.

    2. Or a Bethesda game
      Or a EA game
      Or a CDProjekt game

You can buy other games as most other games don’t require too many patches and usually most bugs are ironed out before launch. But, be a good consumer and stop buying sht on launch, wait a week and see before you dump your money on it.

      1. You take that back about CDProjekt. I mean sure, their games do indeed get *dramatically* better in 1 year’s time, but their games deserve launch price admission for the quality and for the support their games get.

    3. This game ran fine at launch. The only thing truly debatable is the high CPU usage, that many speculate is caused by DRM though there is no proof one way or the other.

Most of the LOD/draw distance fixes in this patch were undoing changes they made in the last update that lowered the LOD quality to some degree.

So – at launch, this game was fine.

  1. Wow, those patch notes seem epic! Very cool, so nice to see the continued support for the PC.

Awesome. Can’t wait, especially for the new difficulty and scaling, still loving the game.

  2. To be honest I don’t know what to hope, with the 388.0 drivers and 1.03 patch the game was ok and on the benchmark I use to score around 7100-7200~, now with 388.59 and patch 1.05 I dropped to 7000-6950~.

Also about graphical downgrades I just noticed a lowered texture distance for the ground mostly. Now after few in-game meters like 3/4 the ground starts to look blurry.

The only difference I had is that before I had like a RAM bleeding issue, where I got like 15gb or ram used, and now it never exceeds 8gb.

A part from I’m really looking forward the nightmare mode and the npc scaling option, finally I will have a reason to finish the game fully 🙂
