In a new status update, the Lead Producer of DayZ, Eugen Harton, revealed that DayZ will leave Early Access in 2018. Moreover, Harton claimed that there won’t be any new beta release in December, something that may disappoint the game’s fans.
The next major beta release, version 0.63, will also release next year. This new version will feature new crafting, herding behaviour for animals, AI improvements, environment actions and player audio.
Furthermore, the team hints at new zombie types and animals, new animation system and more players per server. These are things that the team will investigate for a future build. Furthermore, the team may look into a completely revamped melee combat with combos and evading mechanics. New damage system and hitzones, as well as new movement and stealth are also things that the team may improve.

Harton also hinted at a future open Q&A on their forums. During this Q&A, her and their community team will do their best to answer fans’ questions regarding any specific features or content.
Harton concluded that 2018 will be the most important year for DayZ and its development team.
“2018 is going to be an important year for us in the studio, as our long term work finally makes its way out there. We sure take our time, but I truly believe that people only remember great games, and not how long it took to make them.
We’re almost there – after all the excruciating wait, and all the tests of patience, there are some really good times ahead of us.”
