Nioh: Complete Edition releases in a few days on the PC and according to streamers, it does not feature any support for mouse. While the game does support the keyboard, Team Ninja has completely dropped the ball and did not implement any mouse support in it.
As YouTube’s ‘The Outerhaven Productions’ replied when asked whether the PC version of Nioh: Complete Edition supports the mouse.
“There is no M+K. The game does not support the mouse at all. It’s either controller or keyboard. No mouse.”
Other streamers have also confirmed that the game does not support mouse at all.

Nioh: Complete Edition is a third-person game and no; controller is not the best control scheme for these games. Take for example Shadow of War. Below you can find a video in which we play the PC version with mouse+keyboard. And as you can see, everything is fluid and smooth. In fact, combat becomes easier as we can more quickly examine the area around us for enemies. The Witcher 3 is also another game that works like a charm with mouse+keyboard. So lets put to rest the idea that third-person action games are meant to be played with a controller.
It’s just sad that a 2017 game does not support mouse on the PC. What’s also sad here is that Nioh is a game that a lot of PC gamers were looking forward to. Well done sabotaging your own game Team Ninja.

I consider myself fair when the subject is M + K versus controller, and I do think a controller is MUCH better for third person games with fixed aim (when you can target lock an enemy). Dark Souls for instance, plays much better on a controller.
How good the gameplay is going to be on a controller vs M + K depends on the game mechanics, not the camera type. Gears of War is a third person view kind of game and plays much better with M + K, but DS doesn’t, and I suspect Nioh will also play better on a controller. It has to do with how you aim, not the camera angle.
Hmm, I never really thought about it, I played GoW1,4 with a xbox 1 controller since that was how I was used to playing that game. I wonder if it’s better with a mouse than Dark souls because the camera angle is closer and less dynamic than Dark Souls.
The Surge is a game with a Dark Souls-lock mechanic and works fine with mouse+keyboard. Seriously, all they have to do is offer raw mouse movement (instead of accelerated or movement with deadzone issues).
I played all Dark Soul games with kb/m and after getting used to it, I never felt the need to use a controller for that, it’s just a lame excuse that a particular game is meant for controllers, keyboard and mouse is a versatile control system, I even play fighting games with keyboard never felt myself at disadvantage.

That no M/KB thing doesn’t bother me for this type of game. I’m more curious if this is good game? I remember people hyping it on Ps4 but that could have just been because it was an exclusive. Anyone played it yet?
Also of course I’m definitely gonna check peoples performance, As far as I know Team Ninja only released 1 game on pc before this, Yaiba Ninja Gaiden and I remember it having some significant issues.
The hype usually fall if the game wasn’t that good similar to Infamous Second Son, Knack and The Order 1886

Not that I’m particularly surprised because Koei Tecmo have an established reputation for incompetence on the PC platform so this is par for the course for them.
They love spending as little as possible on their PC ports and the results show for it.

There have always been a plethora of games on PC that have supported M+K, but to see a game flat out not have any support for the mouse is insanely stupid.
I knew it was too good to be true to even bother trusting KT with one job.

Well had it on steam wishlist and after this news it earned not interested section. FFS release a pc game without mouse support, hope Durante will make some mods to fix this or else they just lost my cash.

I play everything with mouse/keyboard. The only game that I found impossible to play with mouse is Dark Souls 2 (the fist one is ok)
So put a tag on the Steam page that says “Controller is heavily recommended with this game” or some such, not a tag that says “Controller is mandatory for play with this game.”
I play a lot of games on PC with a controller because they feel better with one, doesn’t mean I expect everyone to do the same, even though I recommend it for a lot of IPs.

I’ve gamed on PC longer than you’ve been alive. There are certain games you play with a controller (gamepad, wheel, joystick, etc.) – flight sims, racing games, hack and slash, beat em up, any arcade game, final fantasy, any jrpg, old school action adventure games like RE or Silent Hill, RE4, RE5, RE6, Rev1, Rev2, Dark Souls etc.
There are other games you play with mouse and keyboard only. RTS, MMO, point and click, elder scrolls, fallout, doom, wolfenstein, any FPS, any FP anything
Anyone who actually played Dark Souls with mouse and keyboard knows it was terrible. There are so many games where the mouse support is terrible that it’s supreme ignorance to talk like you do. RE Revelations 2 – terrible mouse. Dead Space – literally unplayable with mouse because of smoothing and acceleration. Spec Ops the Line – awful mouse.

Finished Dark Souls 3 with mouse and keyboard, it plays GREAT with k&m. And i have Bloodborne on my PS4 which i’d love to play using k&m instead of that stupid gamepad. But unfortunately i can’t. I was going to buy Nioh for PC JUST to play with keyboard and mouse, not the gamepad… but the devs failed to deliver.

I don’t get why a lot of people are complaining to not being able to play a 3rd action game with a mouse. Mouse+keyboard are good for fps and in general for shooting, but in a game where there is mostly melee combat what’s the point in that?
Ofc it’s stupid to not support mouse on pc, but at the end of the day I think that this is just a way to spare few bucks in producing costs instead of a way to piss off crackers and people who download games….besides a controller is way less expensive than a game and it will last years so even someone who has not the money for a game could afford it.
With a 3rd person game I prefer the mouse to control the camera. The only time I need to use a controller is 2D platformers and occasionally driving games.
yeah I do understand that, but it depends on the type of the game. In game like WOW I used the mouse aswell and I never felt the need of a controller (albeit is not supported) but for a game which is important to give more than one direction, choose speed I always prefer an analog controller.

not surprising, when was the last time a koei tecmo game had mouse support? apart from the nobunaga/ROTK games? maybe dragon quest heroes had it, and that was published by square, but made by the dynasty warriors team.

The games that are better with a controller actually have their own dedicated peripherals. Like fighters, racers, space sims and so on. i would argue that keyboard is just as good as gamepad for platformers.

Any kind of 3rd person action game is easily transfered to K&M, and Dark Souls 3 makes a solid example here: it is great with keyboard and mouse too. In fact, i would prefer to play it using k&m over gamepad any day.

Thats why i Support The Surge 100%. It puts Dark Souls to shame and all other Japanese devs that doesn’t respect the PC platform. Truth be told Japanese devs are console devs and very disrespectful to the PC platform. They make so much more money on PC because they have less overhead and less royalties to pay. They make more money because they do less work and get paid for it on PC. As a business man this annoys the hell out of me.
