And the battle for the best battle royale game has heated up. A couple of minutes ago, Epic Games revealed that Fortnite: Battle Royale passed ten million total players. And almost simultaneously, Bluehole Studio revealed that PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has set a new record for concurrent players on Steam.
According to the company, and Steam’s stats, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has passed two million concurrent players. As such, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is the only game that has hit the two million goal for concurrent players.
Not only that, but Bluehole Studio was able to achieve this in just a month. Back in September, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds set a new record with 1,348,025 players online at the same time. In order to give you an idea, DOTA 2’s lifetime concurrent players peak was 1,291,328. And in just a month, Bluehole’s battle royale game has surpassed two million players online at the same time.

It’s also worth noting that PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is only available on the PC and in Early Access (at least for now). On the other hand, Epic’s Fortnite is available on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
But anyway, this is great news for all battle royale fans as it will show publishers – and developers – that there is a big marker for this kind of games. Let’s just hope that future battle royale games won’t be plagued by loot boxes.

I wonder if it’ll actually hit 3 million before some South Korean F2P alternative pops up & steals all of its remaining steam (no pun).
After all, it’s already dead everywhere except Asia & they’re pissing them off by being idiots, so who knows;

Oh, right, before anyone asks, the source is SteamSpy.
Where’s your source… for being so damn sexy?
This one guy in Monaco, he does all the “important” people.
Like that one old woman who’s been ruling that one island for decades, now. I hear he’s keeping her alive with fairy blood, or some such. Either way, he’s been doing wonders for me…..
….. I mean, I am a talking skull head, after all ^^
Though, I’m pretty sure it involves the sacrifice of young innocent virgins upon my cult’s altars to me….. Yeap, definitely…..
That blood is does wonders for your cheekbones.
Fortnite is the new thing now, bro.
For a minute, maybe. Even if Fortnite rises up for a while, I still expect some unknown Korean F2P thing to ultimately topple everyone & everything – at least in Asia.
You cannot say it is dead everywhere except asia when you are pointing out that the percentage of total users for non-china is going down. The percentage would be going down even if the actual numbers would go up if china numbers go up even more.

I suppose “dying” might be more accurate than “dead”, assuming the trend continues. We’ll just have to wait & see, I guess.
So the only region it is currently not growing in is the U.S. Sure, it could be an indication that other regions will follow. Technically all games are dying though because for sure no game will last forever. You are also dying, just like PUBG :P.
Yes, it will be interesting to see how it turns out!
even if we use the US as a measure of the game being dead, 10% means 200k. so its still the #1 game being played on steam lol
Current Players: 442,264
Peak today: 816,110
Game: Dota 2
Nope.
Lol you are such a troll Zatara. You post that after dota 2 had more players than PUBG for 1 hour during the entire last 7 days :P.
I literally just randomly loaded up Steam & clicked on Stats, but whatever.
what makes you think out of those 800k 200k are from the US?
also, even if that were the case (its not) thatd still make it #2.. lol
Okay?
Good sport. I play a match every now and then, so not the biggest fan, but it’s still admirable in many ways. So many haters though.
Hold on. What kind of hacks? Aimbot?
I don’t know, call it whatever you want. When 3 people go down by the same guy in about 3second when we’re not even close to each other. Aimbot, snap wtv it is, it’s not legit! Even macros aren’t legit, that’s why they patched the jump crouch macro people were doing but that doesn’t change anything because now people macro it to their keyboard or mouse…
