The Star Wars Battlefront 2 beta is currently available to everyone, and below you can read our first impressions of it. The Star Wars Battlefront 2 beta comes with three multiplayer modes. These modes are: Galactic Assault, Starfighter Assault and Strike. The beta also features two arcade modes that can be played on your own. These first mode is a 10-on-10 team battle with AI allies and enemies, and the second is a Hero vs. many scenario.
As the title suggest, we’ll be focusing on the multiplayer modes. But before that, let’s start with how the beta runs. The good news here is that the Star Wars Battlefront 2 beta runs incredibly well. Of course this is to be expected as the game uses the Frostbite 3 Engine. As with its predecessor, DICE has used photogrammetry and the end results are great. Not only that, but performance is incredible. Our GTX980Ti was able to run the beta with more than 100fps on Ultra settings at 1080p. We’ll talk more about the game’s visuals and performance in our PC Performance Analysis when the game comes out.
The Starfighter Assault is perhaps the mode that most Star Wars fans will be interested in. In this mode, two teams compete in epic, multi-stage battles between swift starfighters, powerful hero ships, and huge capital ships in objective-based dogfights. And let me tell you that it is one of the game’s best modes. It’s chaotic, it’s fun, it stays true to the Star Wars spirit, it provides an amazing audio/visual experience. It’s awesome.
The Galactic Assault puts two teams against each other, spans all three trilogies and has objectives that are unique to each planet. There are three stages during which players will have to fight. In the first stage, clone troopers must use ion launchers to damage the incoming Multi-Troop Transport leading the Separatist invasion force. The second stage sees the droids are attempting to storm the palace and deactivate the security systems protecting the heart of the palace—the throne room. And in the third stage, the clones must prevent the droids from taking the throne room control point. The droids must enter the throne room and capture the control point at its centre to win the match.
The Strike mode is a team deathmatch mode with objectives that pits two teams of 6 players against one another. One team is defending while the other team is attacking. The attacking team must retrieve a package before they run out of respawn lives, while the defending team must protect the package.
The Star Wars Battlefront 2 beta was enjoyable and it’s definitely better than its predecessor. However, we are a bit worried about the final version. You see, the game comes with loot boxes and these may break the actual game. We’ll have to wait and see, however it’s sad that pretty much every game now uses loot boxes.
But anyway, below you can find a video showing all the multiplayer modes.
Also note that the Star Wars Battlefront 2 beta ends on October 9th.
Enjoy!

wait wait wait… Rey? with the republic troopers? vs Darth Maul?
EA… DO YOU EVEN STAR WARS?
despicable, this franchise is dead to me.
“EA… DO YOU EVEN STAR WARS?”
After the campaign reveal, do you even ask that question?
Chromatic Aberration and other post-processing effects can’t be disabled…
The game will be so much better without that film gran effect and chromatic aberration i hate everythign from motion blur, dof and all of those crap things ..i like my game to look clean and nice
Oh my god this. That grain effect in 4K looks so bad. Also hate that they locked the FOV at 55 which is annoyingly low.
I don’t believe it, I just wasted 25GB of my bandwidth for this garbage, could’ve download something else
so i take it, it wasnt improve from the previous game at all?
They didn’t nerf them, they became weak because of malnutrition. The Walking Dead aren’t the zombies, it’s the humans, they were always intended to be the main villains, that’s always been the point of it all.
But yeah, the adaptation has been sh*t since they fired the original showrunner after Season 1.
I’ve had enough of the censorship on this silly site.
what happend? did john delete your comment or something?
He probably forgot to censor himself & got snagged by the filter, happens to me all the time.
yeah the filter on this site is so bogglingly r e t a r d e d
John should’ve seriously removed it when we voted for unrestricted
Not his call, Google imposed it on him under threat of removing DSOG from search results.
But, yeah, something needs to be done about that, somehow, at some point, in some way…..
If our Patreon reaches its final goal, we will obviously remove the filter (as we won’t have to rely on Google). So basically it’s up to our readers as they can show their support via this way. Until then, though, the filter is a necessity.
why though? do words like F**k and $hit get flagged by google or something? i can understand censoring racial or sexual slandering
but average day “american slang” doesn’t really seems to be the case
gamespot, youtube, IGN every one of these has users saying naughty words, or is this a new google scheme so they can compete who’s the most politically correct?
Yeap these words get flagged. For example, the first flag was for f’ and the second was for p*rn. The fact that IGN or other sites have not been hit by such thing is just mere luck (for them). Kotaku for example was once hit by it and was listed – for a brief – as an adult site by Google.
google is very strange…
then again, what does it matter what google list the site as?
you can’t find DSO naturally on google, only if you type the full name
so their “threats” aren’t really valid here…
No. My comment went to moderator approval because I used the word sl*t to describe Lori in The Walking Dead Series. I put the “u” in there so I guess that was too offensive for some sensitive people. One time my comment went to moderation because I used the word p*rn with the “o” in it. It got edited by a moderator and replaced the “o” with a “*”.
oh yeah, the “Christian censoring” type of Bull$hit
John if you’re reading this, disable this atrocious system because we voted
for unrestricted, this means “naughty words” need not approval because it’s a ridiculess time consuming system which benefits no one
As John said, they have to have this filter because Google would punish DSOG otherwise (by removing their site from search results; that’s a big deal).
f**k google
their search system is atrocious and their bias is even worse
John duckduckgo is the future (and the TOR browser since our Orwellian society seems like a reality by now…)
Google more or less already does. I was curious a while back and cleared my browser history so it wouldn’t be a factor since I come to this site pretty much every day. I Googled “PC gaming news” and got 17 pages of results. DSOG wasn’t in any of them. I Googled “game news” and DSOG wasn’t in the first 20 pages of results. I gave up after that. Effectively for a new PC gamer looking for sites to get news DSOG doesn’t exist unless they hear about this site on another site.
The way to get DSOG in the first few pages is to Google “game news DSOG” and if enough people do that Google will start showing this site in searches. That’s what companies do to get their site bumped up in Google search results but when they get caught doing it sometimes Google punishes them by blacklisting them. If a lot of different IP addresses are doing the search though it won’t get flagged by Google for “cheating” the system.
The game wont work on win7 64bit ? Its just start and close ….
Having the same issue. Finding a solution is a nightmare because the bastards at EA couldn’t come up with an original name so I keep getting search results for the older game. Wasted my day on this. Definitely not getting a sale out of me.
I’m running win7 64bit and have no issues… Strange
add in cfg. in Mydoc ..:
GstRender.FieldOfView 1.370
Whats the deal with this then, is it just the same game again with new maps or is it worth getting?
Tried it. Didn’t like it 1 second. Wish dice would make Battlefield 5 and no futuristic or okd stuff. 2020military stuff.
Well yea lol. But no laser stuff. M4A1 2020 edition is fine by me 🙂
I’ve only spent a few hours playing all modes in the beta. It very much feels like the previous game. Different combat classes only changes the experience slightly. Not enough to make it feel refreshing… Biggest improvement I noticed is space combat. Its much more fun. Don’t know if that and the campaign is reason enough to buy it early. Probably not. Gonna wait out till the price falls.
TWD dropped in quality when Darabont left.
YourMoviesSucksDOTorg did a good three part video series of TWD. Shame he only covered the first two seasons, but he does a good job of showing why the show started to decline a few years back. Wish he’d do it again for the new seasons because they suck.
Like I said, it’s really just a comics thing; the zombies themselves are becoming irrelevant in the comic, to which they’ve almost caught up. By & large the enemies are now post-apocalypse human factions, with the zombies being more like window dressing when you need to rack up some tension, though the creator has recently done some interesting things with the remaining zombies, as well.
Regardless, yeah, the adaptation is sh*t, but the rotting zombies thing stems from the actual source material, it’s not one of those moronic AMC decisions. They’re not feeding so they’re decaying. I don’t know why, it’s just how he (the creator) decided to do it.
I really liked what i saw of it before the beta I tried it for about 3 hours but i found it boring as hell when i actually played it tbh. i tried it last night and haven’t felt the urge to start it up again.
Im not putting any money down on this tittle that is for sure. Thanks for the beta though ea. Oh and technically the beta runs perfectly fine i must say. It just was not a lot of fun to play.
Game looks and plays worse than the last game and the last game sucked. Story is co-written by a former IGN employee (Mitch Dyer) with no experience who said Anita Sarkeesian was his personal hero. Game will get good reviews due to politics just like Star Trek Discovery. Just like ST:D it will suck. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/ce534a7719219d4fd8b6abd5edf6dc052ce9c8a9213e578ff43a108fe841477a.jpg
Nah I tried the game and I WONT BUY IT glad they gave us the beta at least we can safe our money
