Artist ‘Guillermo Moreno‘ has released a number of screenshots from an Unreal Engine 4 map based on Grim Fandango. Moreno has recreated the game’s ‘Department of Death’ environment, thus giving everyone a glimpse of what an Unreal Engine 4 version of this classic adventure game would look like. Enjoy!

You’re obviously not old enough to remember how legendary this game was. We’re lucky for the remaster we got and if you don’t play it, you’re just doing yourself a disservice.
If you press a button in he game you can switch between the old and the new render, all it does is make the characters render on a higher resolution so no jaggies and put better ligh around them.. Its a pathetic remaster.

I find this game extremely badly designed as far as the puzzles go and this remaster is filled with bugs, no idea how it got such high scores yes it has a unique setting but its not doen particulary well.
Since the game takes dozens of hours to pass, you’ve made it obviously clear that you haven’t played the remaster (or if you have, not for long). If you can’t appreciate Grim Fandango, you are in the smallest minority of the gaming internet.

First of all the game isnt long the only reason it appears long is because the puzzles are completly and utterly random without much logic or sense, so it takes forever to figure them out, if you know their solution you can finish it under 2 hours.
Also it take a dozen hours on average judging by the “internet” not dozens.
Anyway i am at year 3 now.

Hmm. so many things wrongs this that statement, first of all i appreciate the setting and the visual style and some dialogues are pretty good, its the puzzles that are utter stupid and the remaster is full of bugs, just look at the forums on gog and steam.

The reason you are wrong is because the game sold HORRIBLY 100.000 to 500.000 at best. Plus making it work on newer systems was impossible let alone finding a copy for it.
Long story short MOST OF THE GAMING COMMUNITY DIDNT CARE ABOUT GRIM FANDAGO and most of the gaming internent DIDNT GIVE A DAMN, get nostalgia f@gs to review the game doesnt do justice to the game either since it has aged so poorly. As far as puzzles go sanitarium is a good example of puzzles that make more sense. Also phychonauts was a better game overall.
Now the reason why you are right that i am in the smallest minority of the internet is, that this game is so cult that the people that will actually bother to play it are very very few. Sadly i was one of them.
Leave it up to the PC kids to not appreciate a gift when it’s right in front of them…

Personally I would have loved that they went with this instead. Sure it is more work, but it is also an actual remastering of the game. Besides, the UE4 engine is free to use.
