Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Siege Will Be Powered By Havok FX, New Screenshots & Trailer

Havok has unveiled Havok FX, a brand new CPU-driven software product that will deliver unprecedented levels of detail and physics to particle effects. Havok FX will allow developers to physically enable particle systems and to add a new gameplay dimension to previously aesthetic visual effects. Ubisoft is one of the first publishers to announce their support of this new product through their adoption of Havok FX within Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege.

Through its focus on CPU processing, Havok FX offers a lightweight, cross platform solution to creating dynamic and persistent particle effects across all next gen platforms and PCs. Shrapnel, dust, goo, debris and smoke will interact with both the player and the environment, increasing the fidelity of the game world while also offering designers the ability to deliver gameplay altering effects. Artists now have the freedom to create the richer and more dynamic environments at a scale that modern AAA gaming demands.

Mark Besner, Lead Programmer at Ubisoft Montreal, said:

“Havok FX brought all we needed to push the realism of Realblast, our procedural destruction engine, to a whole new level. With each explosion you see debris, shrapnel and fragments all flying through the environment and reacting dynamically, making each assault even more tense and realistic.”

Brian Waddle Vice President of Sales & Marketing at Havok added:

“Havok FX isn’t just a software package; it’s technology that takes advantage of the step-up from the previous console platforms toward the incredible power of next-gen hardware. This was the perfect opportunity to roll up our sleeves and collaborate with the Rainbow Six Siege team to demonstrate the ability and power of Havok FX. This incredible title showcases the future of particle physics and debris effects on CPU, and we believe the industry as a whole will demand the same high level of fidelity by leveraging Havok FX in future games. Once consumers see Rainbow Six Siege in action, gamers are going to demand this level of quality and immersion from the games industry.”

  1. Havok = Great performance and physics model.

That’s why I always put it as an example instead of GameWorks/PhysX.

    1. “Havok = Great performance”

BS. I tried Mortal Kombat X with old E8400 and GTX 660. It was unplayable. While Borderlands Pre-Sequel (Physx set to high) was ~44 fps.

      “physics model”

      Debris melting in ground. Awesome.

      1. That’s an unfair comparison. BPS is a 32-bit D3D9 game, whereas MKX is 64-bit D3D11. Their visual styles are entirely different as well.

    2. The Witcher 3 used gameworks for many things, like destruction, cloth physics. Seems to run fine on AMD.

It’s only hairworks that has a problem with AMD hardware, which is completely optional and can be tweaked with some loss in quality to run better on AMD

    1. Runs very well (i was playing Alpha)
-> here my screens (im addicted to make screens 😉
Game runs RadeonPRO + SweetFX 1.5.1 NP, was capped to 61FPS, ALL Ultra
      ========

      1. Just so you know the alpha was at medium settings. They didn’t ship high or ultra because the download would have been too big.

  2. They say it’s a new vesion of havok built for the cpu power of next gen consoles. XBOX AND PS4 CPU’s ARE COMPLETE GARBAGE. Which on PC means we get a dumbed down physics engine from console. I’m starting to hate the consoles more and more.

    1. Consoles are better bang for buck, most people don’t want to spend $3,000 to play a game isn’t that much better than the console(i know it’s subjective, but i’ve seen maxed out PC games vs the Console versions but IMO it’s not worth spending $2500 more and going through all the Windows crap to achieve it)

      1. Spent less than a grand on my PC(could have spent less but I splurged on a couple parts) and I get 60fps at 1440P on most games. At 1080P I get 60fps on every game I’ve ever tried. Lol Witcher 3 at console settings I get 185 fps.

  3. Finally UBI drops Sh**ty nV propertialy CRAP…
No more Game Works and shady moves on PC Games.
Now i’m waiting for E3 PC Gaming Show with AMD/ATI + MS and many more 😀

  4. “gamers are going to demand this level of quality and immersion from the games industry”
we were demanding better than this but you s**ty people of ubisoft delivered worst both in terms of visuals and performance, also game content itself. where is the damn single player ? what happened to that beautiful tactical shooter game we all loved ? it’s just an online shooter now filled with 5years olds and some maps and nothing more.

        1. There isn’t any doubt regarding the single-player being there; it has been confirmed. What hasn’t been mentioned is what the single-player will be like.

          1. almost 3 years after announcement and no official words about single player just a maybe. too much focus on multiplayer and not showing/taking about the single player is not a good sign, even cod and battlefield games which are multiplayer focused games getting announcements with their single player campaigns

  5. This menas that Siege will have very high cpu requiemnts for cpu too? Then time to finaly buy a new cpu, My 2500k 3,3ghz has done well for 4 years but now if this is true then soon i will need to go for a 5700k or 5600.

  6. if Rainbow Six: Siege doesnt have great sp then R.I.P if they are focusing on mp then name it other than that

  7. Thank God! Nvidia garbageworks/physx destroyed the performance for alot of games. The recent one being The Witcher 3.
