Bethesda has released the official launch trailer for the new Wolfenstein game. Wolfenstein: Youngblood is a spin-off, set in the 1980s, two decades after the events of Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus. In an alternate history in which Germany won World War II, Jessica and Sophia Blazkowicz, the twin daughters of B.J. Blazkowicz, must travel to Paris to look for their missing father. At the same time, they have to help the French Resistance liberate the country from German occupation dating from World War II.
I like first-person shooters and I did like the previous games. From what I have seen so far, the game brings nothing more than an online only co-op mode, which honestly I couldn’t care less though I am sure some people will appreciate it. So far, the gameplay looks the same and that’s good, but I see nothing new. I mean this is the fourth Wolfenstein from Machine Games so a tiny amount of innovation would be nice.
I don’t think I want to play this game, but for some reason Arkane is also involved in the development. Arkane is one of my favorite studios (god damn Bethesda) since Arx Fatalis and Dark Messiah. Only because of that, I am willing to give this a go and maybe write a review, so stay tuned.
Wolfenstein: Youngblood is scheduled to be released on this Friday, July 26th.

They lost me with The New Colossus, i cannot believe how they screw up such franchise, specially after doing the New Order which was pretty good.

Anita Sarkeesian critiqued the female characters in the first game, the ceo took her seriously and changed it, he even gave her a interview during e3. The reaon why you can play as emily is Anita. Also the standalone expansion is written by some feminist who the ceo saw on twitter and liked.

wolfenstein 2 biggest problem wasnt pandering, it was that it was really short with too many cutscenes, cheaply put together corridor levels and awful writing and humor and it was rushed out to capitalize on the “Drumpf is a naytzee” bs.

But here is the thing, atleast it doesnt take itself seriously, the entire game feels like a bad lsd trip, as if the existence of this game is one giant inside joke. It cant take itself seriously even for a minute, its the complete opposite of the first game, but hey at least it doesnt morally talk down to you.

The only good thing about rage 2 is the combat which was made by id software, the story and the world is made by a swedish avalanche studio, so it sucks.

Wolfenstein II: TNC got me on the edge of giving up, and now with this abomination, I have jumped fence and can’t look back!
It is now impossible to even dream of a game like RTCW in the franchise…its all emo, SJW bull$#!T now!
wolfenstein 2 was already an abomination and if you payed close attention you could see where it was heading, look at the dlc for example. You could tell where they were going with it, they hate BJ.
Also there are plenty of RTCW mods to play, one of them that you play as a russian soldier has a long campaign and it features ufos.
I remember playing the original Wolf3D when it released (DOS floppies) and it’s what got me started on FPS games.
But the last one, Colossus, ruined it. All those annoyingly long cut scenes you have to keep going through. I didnt finish the game, actually I stopped playing after a few deaths and having to start all the way before long drawn out cutscene sequences. It was the worst and it’s a shame, they wrecked what was a good franchise. (I mean how hard is it to give the option to skip those things after you’ve done them once?)

But arkane has nonlinear level design and you can already see it in the trailer.
Nowadays it´s kind of a formula:
“Take a generic game. Put (Franchise)´s name on it. Characters? All-women-crew is success, since they please girlpower generation AND fapguys at the same time! When? Place it in the 80´s, cause retro is fashion” even when technology, dialog, scenarios and attitude have nothing that transmits us the immersion and feeling of that era.
