Watch_Dogs – New Videos Show Modded ‘Real Ultra Quality Settings’

Guru3D’s member ‘kadzait24’ has released two new videos, showing off the updated ‘Real Ultra Quality’ settings that were achieved via its modded XML. While the videos do look great, we were kind of hoping for a comparison video between the vanilla and the modded Ultra settings. The modder has not yet uploaded his updated XML file so enjoy the following videos for the time being!

  1. The only difference I’m noticing is bloomier light flares, and everything looking darker overall.

    1. Yeah… the lower gamma could fool you that something dramatic has changed. It’s placebo —,—

  2. Whats the first video supposed to be showing us? The raindrops hitting surfaces? I get those already without mods. A comparison would be nice because I didnt notice any difference in either video.

  3. That’s looking more like the “Running on the PS4” lie that was portrayed at E3 2012, proving that the new consoles are already poor even now and the PC is the Master Race.

  4. WTF Nvidia and AMD are doing regard WD perfomance? UBI is clearly gathering more user for consoles by saying that PC arquiteture is “the problem” not WD.

    Damn

  5. The first version of his mod only had Gamma, Brightness and Contrast tweaks as the ones that changed the look of the game (the rest was pretty stupid, like msaa for water reflections, etc. performance breaking tweaks for no reason)

Hope that this version actually does something, but based on the videos, there seems to be little difference (maybe improved lighting?)

Without a comparison video or pics of the original settings, is hard to judge.

And is still far from the 2012 demo I’m afraid…

        1. The SP is kind of so so, but I like when random multiplayer events happen and makes the game a more fun experience.

          1. Exactly why I think it’s worth buying, plus I can get it for £25, but I’ll wait for a patch first.

  6. i think people are missing the point by a long shot…Is not only if the game looks more shiny or not..There are a lot of details that are missing in the game. No dynamic shadows for example and a lot more.

I’m not a fan of Rockstar but Rage Engine is quite good even if it is “misused” on consoles sadly. So for me is what the engine does and what is not doing the actual big problem here…Disrupt Engine looks like an unfinished/unpolished graphics engine if you think about it.

I found these two examples comparing details from GTA IV vs Watch Dogs…and you’ll see where the problems really are. Is not all about texturing, art style, or particle effects…there are a lot of missing details which to me are more important than the actual looks of the game.

Still Watch Dogs looks good in my opinion…but better than what? If I want to choose which open world looks better I will choose the one which has a better art style, and details always.
Heck I even think that Infamous Second Son looks better at some points or at least the colour palette and art style makes it look better, Sleeping Dogs has better texturing in a lot of places, Just Cause 2 has better skies and weather cycles, GTA V has the edge in the overall details of the whole world against all the rest open world games (it is the one that makes everything looks more authentic, texturing looks horrible on consoles though).

Look in the first video when the car explodes…you see the fire but the fire is not making any light source and not even a reflection in the water on the floor…

  7. Yes but what about the other things that outweigh that? It’s just a hate train, GTA4 was from totally different developers who are experienced and known for their open world games and attention to detail. GTA 4 only has night shadows as an option and you have to raise the shadow density which really hurts performance. WD has night shadows as standard and much better quality than the grainy crap R* gave us.
