Valve has released a new video, introducing the Steam Controller. As the company noted, the Steam Controller will let you play your entire collection of Steam games on your TV and will work fine even with the ones designed without controller support in mind. A limited quantity of orders will be shipped October 16th, weeks in advance of their official launch. Enjoy!

Cannot wait to get my hands on it.
because retards cannot use mouse and kb, it’s like using wasd to move and the touchpad on you laptop to look around. People could have used it as a preferred method of control if looking around using the touchpad would work, sadly it doesn’t. I know i tried many times doing it on laptops and the experience was awful. That’s why large mousepads were invented, and why high dpi was invented, so that you would have a smooth panning action without having to lift up every 2 cm. But whatever, i may think it’s dumb and just a way for valve to make themselves seem different and i guess people would swallow everything if marketed the right way.
id argue that mouse is easier than thumbsticks, You bring valid points but a thumb is smaller than a mouse and at the very least if it works on consoles it will make playing on them easier.
Agreed with marketing thing, disagree with people being retards thing.
Mouse and keyboard isn’t ideal in a couch setting. This controller is supposed to bring PC games into the living room. Obviously there are compromises made with regards to accuracy, but the overall benefits outweigh the precision drawbacks.
why, i use it on couch mouse pad on the right kb on the left side, it’s perfect. I think this need to have the controller represent “the living room experience ” is wrong. It’s just a way to make console players feel more welcomed playing pc games in the living room, to make the experience more like consoles and not remind them they use a steam machine or pc
“why, i use it on couch mouse pad on the right kb on the left side”
— I have absolutely no idea how you manage to play that way while reclined on a couch, but that’s your preference I suppose. Regardless, controllers were specifically designed to be used from afar, kbd+m wasn’t. The majority of people are still comfortable with controllers when playing from the couch.
“It’s just a way to make console players feel more welcomed playing pc games in the living room”
— I don’t see a problem with that. In fact I endorse it. More console players converting to PC, the better. And if Windows/Linux PCs can be made to appeal to this demographic by being sold as “consoles”, then it really doesn’t matter as far as PC gaming itself is concerned. It’s only the form factor that’s changing to fit into a living room setting.
Damn looks like they improved it a lot. Can’t wait to give it a go 🙂
I guess I be dusting off S.T.A.L.K.E.R on my sofa/42 inch screen for the first time
Would rather buy this than an xbone controller.
Preordered, now just 4 months waiting, just 4…. 😐
I wonder if this will top the Gamecube one as my personal favourite/most comfortable controller. The prospects seems to be good. 🙂
lol at the witcher 3 camera control. stiff as sht!
I know it’s Valve, but remember the sage advice of the prophets
so $50 in America and over 60 in Europe? No, thanks, I’ll wait for the Chinese knock-off, gaben.
You get what you pay for, most times!
So in Europe we’ll get a version that’s worth 12 more dollars? How great is that!
I got a Chinese controller for my android emulators for $20 and it works better than any expensive branded one.
Welcome to VATS!!
Some Chinese made products are made very well, but most are not. Depends on how much over sight is involved by the person wanting said product brought to the market. I once saw a batch of chinese made brake pads…..the guy who tried to sell them to me later went to jail for killing a lady and her kids. Her van wouldn’t stop, and she feel off a high cliff as a result. The issue? The friction material of the Brake pad was made out of compost heap and a few other equally silly materials.
If you buy Chinese brake pads I understand natural selection being applied towards you. But the biggest harm a controller can cause is to stop responding while playing.
The issue is they trick you with stiff like”machined” in america and such bs.
personally a Game pad with a Trackball instead of the right stick would be a better option. At least for me. I use a thumb trackball and it rocks!!!
