TimeSplitters Rewind is alive, new gameplay presentation released

Out last look on TimeSplitters Rewind was back in 2017 when we shared some screenshots from its WIP version. Since then, the team went silent and today, after almost one and a half years, Cinder Interactive Arts released a new gameplay presentation.

As the team noted, the gameplay footage featured in this video has been worked on from October last year and mainly from one person. Yeap, the team has scraped all previous work and has started from the beginning. Moreover, it features a lot of placeholders and it obviously does not represent the quality of the final product. Still, it’s better than nothing.

TimeSplitters Rewind is a standalone multiplayer game that is being developed by fans of the original Timesplitters series. The game will feature characters, maps, and weapons from all three games completely rebuilt.

There is currently no ETA on when TimeSplitters Rewind will come out. Since Cinder Interactive Arts has started from scratch, I believe it’s safe to say that it will at least take a couple of years until the team finishes the game (and I’m being optimistic here). So yeah, don’t hold your breath.

Enjoy the video!

  1. Yeah, I don’t believe it’s going anywhere either. The guy explains at the end that almost EVERYTHING you see in this video was made by him personally over a few months and now he’s back on “the project” because the people on “the project” like this build. So the people who were supposed to be making “Timesplitters Rewind” for the past SIX YEARS have accomplished less than a single person was able to throw together in a couple months. It’s pretty obvious that this man is the only one who actually cares about getting anything done. There’s no point collaborating with others any way, if he can produce this kind of result in a few months. He can apparently do all aspects of gamedev himself better and faster than the rest of the TSR team so it’s inevitable that he gets frustrated with them again, they rely on him completely, nothing gets done unless he does it etc. Then there’s the absurd plan of remaking several entire games as an amateur mod team, when you haven’t managed to remake ONE in six years. Modders really have no self-awareness whatsoever.
