Last week, ‘Modding and Development’ released a new trailer for its upcoming total conversion mod for The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, Robowind Construct.
Robowind Construct will be using brand new custom assets, and will attempt to transform Morrowind into a space robot shooter RPG. The mod will be based on OpenMW, so you won’t be able to run it on the original version of Morrowind.
For those unaware, OpenMW is a free, open-source, and modern engine which re-implements and extends the 2002 Gamebryo engine for The Elder Scrolls III Morrowind. OpenMW comes with its own editor, called OpenMW-CS, which allows the user to edit or create their own mods or original games. Both OpenMW and OpenMW-CS are written from scratch.
Unfortunately, there is currently no ETA on when Robowind Construct will come out. Nevertheless, its latest trailer looks really interesting, so be sure to check it out.
Kudos to our reader ‘durka durka’ for bringing this to our attention.
Enjoy!

Looks very cool! I know Morrowind didn’t have polished animations even in its time, but still, hope the final release is more polished than this trailer. And the humanoid robot designs remind me of the Bionicles.
Yes, Morrowind and his animations, it’s always a difficult question. There are no animation mixing mechanisms in the engine (including OpenMW). All transitions from one rack to another are based on the system of “keys” of the initial and final) Therefore, it can be quite difficult:) Plus my “animation” skill, not how big :))
Hi! Just curious, why did you make it a Morrowind mod instead of Bethesda’s Fallout games mod? Aren’t they more shooting-friendly compared to MW which the normal game doesn’t feature guns so making guns on MW is harder? Maybe it’s because OpenMW is easier to mod? Anyways, awesome mod, keep it up!
Thanks) Everything is simple. There is TES3M for OpenMW, and we plan to create multiplayer in the future.
Oooofff… With THIS engine? (OpenMW)
Yea:) This OpenMW:)
The main reason is the “habit” and the ability to work in this environment. Plus, it is also important to understand that in this engine, unlike the new ones, all the “logic”, game mechanics, and so on are already ready. For example, in the same UE or Unity, all this would have to be written from scratch.
Yes, it is far from ideal here, but we have what we have 🙂
We change something, because of our preferences and skills, but we adapt to something. Tools like lua scripting or simplified animation work are very helpful:) So, while it’s fun)
openmw isnt bad, it has improved alot over the years and added lots of support. If only new vegas had something like that.
Thank you for paying attention to our work 🙂 It’s a pity that the screenshot is not the newest 🙂 We have much more beautiful screenshots now 🙂
