Sonic Frontiers feature 2

Sonic Frontiers gets an official overview trailer

SEGA has released an official overview trailer for its upcoming Sonic game, Sonic Frontiers. As the press release reads, this trailer provides a look at the title’s new high-speed, open-zone gameplay, exhilarating combat system, intriguing puzzles, Cyber Space stages and more.

Sonic Frontiers will be a 3D Sonic game, and that has raised some eyebrows. Additionally, the game will feature, for the first time, open-world environments. Players will battle powerful enemies as you speed through the Starfall Islands. Players can also expect landscapes brimming with dense forests, overflowing waterfalls, sizzling deserts and more.

SEGA will release Sonic Frontiers on November 8th!

  1. It’s true that it feels strange to play Sonic in an open world, but it had already been done a few years ago, with the fangame Sonic Utopia.
(There’s an article on DSO about it)
Imho, it looked better cos it preserved the original design of the first games, and gameplay was actually pretty cool.
What a shame it was abandoned!
This one goes for a more realistic style, a bit like the recent movies, I guess.

  2. This looks terrible.

    1) Sonic is a cartoon character that is misplaced in a realistic world.

    2) The world they created is an empty world without any art direction, theme or cohesion. It looks like someone just randomly placed assets all over the world.

    3) The gameplay seems boring. Sonic runs in a loop around enemies to kill them and activates autocombos. This will get tedious very fast.

    1. To me this just looks like another one of those cheap unreal engine fan projects, nothing more, big boring bland looking world of nothing but with sonic characters slapped into it.
