Bethesda has released a new trailer for id Software’s upcoming arena shooter, Quake Champions. In this trailer, Tim Willits talks about how Quake Champions not only captures the spirit of the original games but also brings the storied shooter into the modern era with the addition of Champions. Willits also gives some new insights into each of the four revealed Champions – Ranger, Visor, Nyx and Scalebearer – and shares his personal favorite of the bunch. Enjoy!

My hype died a little after watching that.
*sigh*
Hope you guys enjoy it.
I’ll just go back to my corner with the lovecraftian one ;_;
quake 2 and megadeth thank you very much.
Opinions, opinions…
Til I see actual gameplay, I don’t give a f*ck.
”Phase ability ”
Urgh…….. disgusting modern gameplay incoming.
Game will rip off gameplay of Overwatch. Just watch ( pun intended )
classes? really?
Just what every Classic Shooter brought into the Modern Era needs!
Oh, wait, not really…………
“You don’t want to be standing in front of the bullrush”
Who the f*ck stands still in Quake, anyway?
Nothing new, even the interview snippets weren’t new. We know enough about the game already to say it’s going to be a binary decision, all we need is the answer to the following questions: Can character abilities be turned off on a server?
Yes means we have a new, proper Quake, arena shooters are saved. No means it’s casual trash, stick to whatever version of Quake you’re playing now, arena shooters remain in coma.
lol at the YT comments section with the few “and it’s PC only doesn’t help”
Said the console only players who never understood Quake’s history on PC along with arena based shooters.
I can see the game not doing so well, but that will be due to them messing with what made Quake good, not because it;s PC only, we’ve had plenty of PC only titles that have done really well and even became vastly popular over the years.
Those people live in a bubble. they don’t get it and they never will.
OMG screw all these ability based shooters.
They should have a classic mode in the game with no bs abilities (just pure player skill) then we will all be happy.
Overwatch wanabe.. cool cool.. we didnt expect that.. not at all..
Shame its exactly what everything was hoping it wont be.
Well Quake 3 was originally going to have different classes, but during the development they changed it so every character was the same gameplay wise. So its not really an Overwatch wanabe more like Tim Willits is finishing what id Software tried to do many years ago.
If thats the case.. im kind of glad the couldn’t do it. Quake 3 is one of the best games ever made. You dont need classes to change your gameplay, you just need a brain and skills. This game could be better than all the class/hero shooters out there, and it could be the first game i get from that type.. but still.
At this point i only want a Quake 3 remaster. I would seriously pay 40-50 $ for it.
League of Quake!
It’s usually what happens to PC gamers after a number of years. We get a dev or two who boast about how much they care, how much effort they are tossing into a game for PC gamers, then they turn around and do bugger all with it and end up being far too busy wondering why it sold poorly rather than listening to their customers as to why it sucked.
They don’t bother with wondering and just assume the market “isn’t there” or “PC gamers don’t care”, then moving back to the console space for another few years until they think it’s “viable” to take another shot, I really don’t want to support those kind of devs at all.
Nope , Much nope Many nope……
Ideal QC would be balanced Quake3 on new engine with Defrag & Cpma game modes with 100% day one support for custom mods, maps, bots & dedicated Server support. And for those who want classes, something like Generations Arena game mode would be quite enough.. Ill stick To Quake3 and Reflex…
Definitely no official Defrag support, no matter what. Just look at Quake Live, they have absolutely no respect for Defrag at all.
Which basically means, it all comes down to whether or not they’re stupid enough to try & throw SnapMap “mod tools” at us again, or give us some real ones, so we can (re-)do Defrag ourselves.
Still not sure about Dedicated Servers either, it looks like a coin flip, especially since Matchmaking is a “big deal” these days in Multiplayer games, & even DOOM didn’t have a Server Browser.
It’s the same question as with all modern devs at this point, really; did they learn anything from DOOM, or are we going to suffer through the same idiotic mistakes before they crash & burn QC into oblivion, or are they just turn it into some mainstream piece of sh*t that seriously doesn’t serve to bear the moniker “Quake”?
