Bethesda has released a new 5-minute gameplay trailer for Doom: The Dark Ages that gives us our first look at the Cosmic Realm. The gameplay footage featured in this trailer was captured on a PS5 Pro. As such, it does not showcase the PC-only Path Tracing effects. Hopefully, NVIDIA will release a trailer to showcase them prior to the game’s release.
Doom: The Dark Ages will be a single-player, action FPS prequel to the critically acclaimed DOOM (2016) and DOOM Eternal. As always, you will assume the role of the DOOM Slayer, the legendary demon-killing warrior fighting endlessly against Hell.
The game will take place in a medieval setting. And, from what I can see in the trailer, the devs have made the BFG a crossbow. It’s a cool touch in my opinion. Plus, you will be able to ride a dragon. At the end of the trailer, we also see a Cthulhu-like creature/boss. So, this feels like a mix of Hexen/Heretic with Doom.
The biggest feature of Doom: The Dark Ages is its parry system. Although this will be a fast-paced game, it will allow players to parry attacks. So, think of it as a mix of Doom 2016 and Sekiro? Okay, the parry window is not as tight as the one for Sekiro. Still, this description can give you an idea of what you can expect from it.
Bethesda plans to release Doom: The Dark Ages on May 15th. As we’ve already reported, the game will support Full Ray Tracing/Path Tracing on PC. Thus, we can assume that it will support DLSS 4 and Multi-Frame Gen. After all, Indiana Jones already supports the latest version of DLSS.
Moreover, the game will be using the Denuvo anti-tamper tech. However, I expect Bethesda to remove it a year (or two) after the game’s release. After all, this is exactly what the publisher has done with both Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal.
Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

So they made Doom a souls-like?
Yes, how else are they going to satisfy the bloodthirsty homosexuals (aka the modern audience)?
snip snip doom’s d*ck
Insert Stargate SG-1's "Snippety Doo-Dah" quote here (why is this not on YouTube?).
explain
game has parry system & medieval-ish visuals = souls-like
(at least I'm guessing that's what they mean)
I couldn't explain it better myself
I thought f*king MercurySteam was raping another franchise at first glance.
I will not pay for a single game that uses brown, yellow and red color palette for the rest of my life, I'm so sick of it.
I will also never buy another game with souls combat system, EVER.
meh.
Also i hate this phony cheesy narration.
Will it have glory kills and is Sweet Baby Inc involved ?
one of them wrote a preview for rolling stones trashing it.
At 1:59 in the video I see they ripped off an enemy from Duke Nukem 3D.
Seriously, why does this guy in the video think that anything he's saying sounds good? I just keep facepalming every time he tries to make something sound epic… Also that new weapon… A gun that fires a mace? You've got to be kidding me… That's just a stupid cannon… Granted the 2016 Doom reboot sucked, and I never understood how so many people liked it, so I guess this will probably be the same.
Yeah that looks like the Octabrain. The gun-mace is weird, where does the chain spool? 50ft of heavy duty chain has to go somewhere. I bought the last two doom games but think I'll skip this one. I love run and gun but it's become tedious and hard on the eyes with this IP.
It's the most stvpid sht I would have never expected to see in a proper legacy respecting Doom game.
Just to begin, make it hellish or about occultism, interdimensional monsters, gory, whatever, but r4ping the Cthulhu mythos???! Wtf???! That's a mythos about suspense, the occult, intrigue and exploring nuanced psychological horror, the very opposite of shooting cannon fodder enemies!
And i literally just facepalmed at the incredibly slow attacks of that Duke Nukem flying brain while this fcking rtard assh*le was trying to make it sound threatening and exciting. Are you fcking kidding me???! Are we even looking at the same footage?!
And why instead of having a cannonball tied to a mystical gun (?!), don't we get a FCKING FLAIL? Dude that's a FLAIL! Give it a long chain and that's it! Idk man, this dude is… .
It's almost like they had an idea for an action game in a medieval setting, didn't know how to sell it to anyone, and someone said "Oh I know, make it a Doom game!"…
The first time I got suspicious of Hugo Martin was when in that first NoClip doc he claimed with his $hit-eating grin that original 1982 Blade Runner was boring. I thougth to myself then that not everything needs car chases and explosions every five minutes to keep one's attention.
And that's where his mentality lead id software – first to Doom Eternal which is basically made for the Memento protagonist given his affliction: constant weapon switching, colored confetti of ammo, everything being non-stop.
Now he's decided to push all his interests and turn ons into the Doom franchise – Cthtulhu, middle ages, flying dragon.
I get it, this dude designed a mech for Pacific Rim, props to him. And Doom 2016 was pretty good (not perfect but really solid, apart from the emphasis on arenas in the latter half). But he seems like way out of his element but everyone's for some reason props him up to be this savior of Doom and FPS genre.
This is dumbed down console trash. As soon as they said everything on one button I thought f*k me this is not gonna be a doom game.
wouldn't mind a new Duke nukem game tbh lol f*king hell imagine the crying Duke would cause in this strang wamen heterosexual white men hating world.
