NFS Underground 2 RTX Remix

Need For Speed: Underground 2 now looks amazing with RTX Remix Path Tracing

Remember the RTX Remix Path Tracing Mod for Need for Speed: Underground 2? Well, good news everyone as modder ‘Uncle Burrito’ was able to resolve the annoying light culling issues. As a result of that, the game now looks amazing with its WIP Path Tracing Mod.

In this new version, the modder has improved the road textures and lowered the amount of volumetric fog. Additionally, by using the latest version of the RTX Remix Runtime, the modder was able to fix the light culling issues.

In order to showcase the latest version of this mod, Uncle Burrito shared the following video. And, as you can see, Need for Speed: Underground 2 looks better than ever.

This is easily one of the best recent RTX Remix Mods we’ve seen. Unfortunately, though, NVIDIA has not released yet the RTX Remix Creator Tool. Thus, a lot of modders are currently unable to properly mod older titles. There is also no ETA on when this tool will come out.

But anyway, enjoy the video and stay tuned for more!

  1. Displaying speed: 130mph
    Feeling speed: 30mph

This shĂŻt belongs to the past, just leave it there.

    1. WTF you’re becoming good at unpopular opinions lately.
The feeling of speed seems perfect here.
Also, everybody is tired of unrealistic racing games where we can drive at 640 km/h.

Even Forza games are annoying me. As soon as we reach 200 km/h, it looks like we’re entering hyperspace, this is ridiculous.
But well, that’s the only way to entertain kids nowadays, I guess.

      1. Well, I’m not trying to be popular, this isn’t fĂŒcking shwitter. I’m only saying what I’m seeing, and what I see is game that didn’t age well at all. It was awesome back there? A little, yeah! But should definitely be let where it belongs, which is our imagination. All of these fake nostalgia that social media moröns has brought up (I say fake cause much of those cĂŒnts wasn’t even alive when the game came out) are nothing but a cancer to our entertainment. Thanks to these bollöcks, we have only remakes today.

      2. Btw, that’s a kids game. If you want to play a car racing game for real, Assetto Corsa is your choice (amongst a couple others, ofc).

    1. You should play the original 2004 game,in it’s glorious 4:3 aspect ratio and almost pixelated look,at first boot(roads) with even more squished toy effect(light and reflections back in the day were maybe 10% accurate).
This Mod makes the game look like a Full remake when all that is done is Lighting and higher textures.

    1. not really they did not have reflections just bright lights and blurry textures, there are much better remaster mods on youtube.

  2. Framerates and hitching look better than the last demo …. Probably the product of culling all the unnecessary graphics

  3. Reminds me of all these GTA IV-V videos where the modder makes the roads wet everywhere, thinking that it’ll be enough to impress us.

Try to cover the road with your hand and watch the rest, it doesn’t look like much of an improvement after all. Just some exaggerated bloom effects on lights.

    1. Lol, right on. It seriously bugs me too. They also throw insane reflections on surfaces that are very much supposed to be matte – floors seem to be the main target – then expect us to all applaud and gush over it’s “next gen-ness.” ?

Remix does look pretty insane though, and I’m SO looking forward to seeing what games like Deus Ex, Deus Ex: HR, Republic Commando, and the older Dead Space games look like properly modded with the toolset.

I mean, DS 2 and 3 still look very good, but the lighting in 2 could use some work, and 3 could definitely use a touch up as well.

(Doesn’t fix all the other issues with 3, but still…could only help lol.)

What older (or newer) games are you looking forward to getting the Remix treatment?
