Jose Carlos has shared two videos from the tech alpha phase of Microsoft Flight Simulator. These videos showcase 50 minutes of brand new gameplay footage, and we strongly suggest watching them.
Microsoft Flight Simulator truly feels like a next-gen game. Its visuals are simply incredible, and – when it comes out – it will be undoubtedly one of the best looking games on the PC. These videos show the game’s stunning environments, its volumetric clouds, a dynamic weather system, and lovely rain drops.
In Microsoft Flight Simulator, players will be able to fly highly detailed and stunning aircraft in an incredibly realistic world. Players will also be able to create their flight plan and fly anywhere on the planet. Furthermore, the game will have day/night environments, as well as challenging weather conditions.
Microsoft Flight Simulator targets a 2020 release. The game currently does not support VR headsets, however, Microsoft into adding VR support.
Enjoy!

Lmao nutting over 720p footage
I wasnt lucky enough to get an invite but this footage is some bs, 720p and the graphic level detailed looks lowered on his machine with a crappy framerate
For some reason i want this, even if my only experience with a flight sim was many years ago when i crashed a plane about 20 seconds after leaving the airport. Then i saw how big was the manual, i laughed a bit and went to play something else.
I’m a tester. It’s impressive as hell but it has a bit to go.
the only thing you test is purple dildos, don’t lie.
I DO test purple dildos, in your butth0le.
i meant that you test it with your anoos yourself but i’ll give you a point for the comeback anyways.
This is what I think of when I see you:

(“fuck me in the goat-ass, shit”)
Comments like these are the reason why i’m still on this site. Thank you.
Looking good. Perhaps the only obvious thing letting it down is the use of rudimentary ambient occlusion inside the cockpit. The way the light and shadows cast across the various switches and dials looks distinctly unrealistic. If they could use ray tracing inside the cockpit (as opposed to outside where the performance cost would presumably be too high) then that’d be much better.
The hardcore gamer was definitely playing on lowered settings so it’ll look better when we see real footage

Microsoft have recently seen the light by once more releasing their games on Steam. Hopefully there’ll be an offline mode.
your joking right? there is no such thing as offline mode for a game that streams this much information, the game install would be 10 terabytes, no, this will have always online drm minimum, and it will be like 250 bucks
smh
Why use crappy compressed low res video to show off how “next gen” the visuals are?
Edit: Nevermind, it’s not official it’s just some idiot who doesn’t understand what an NDA is.
I didn’t say that but well done for your valuable contribution. Have a cookie.
genuine idiot right here. so sorry for you moron
Your comment is still factually in line with what the title of the article is trying to claim. “Truly Next gen” = 720p and a single vehicle flying through essentially an empty map lol. Some mind blowing physics and near impossibly real human character stuff going on here.
Moron alert
Looks great… Now I want realistic simulator of war planes 1914-1950

dildo
I’ve played it and 95% of the cities, towns and airports look like sh*t. The trees are also very ugly and too big.
weird, the video above shows amazing looking graphics, what game are you playing?
I am playing it too. i9 and 2080ti and 32gb of 3200MHz RAM and it is struggling a bit, lots of stuttering. Very playable, and my settings are all the way up, but still. And yes, they aren’t as top-notch as I expected from the videos, but very impressive all the same. My city has a big downtown with skyscrapers and they don’t match the shapes at all. All squares. I get it.. just pointing it out. Houses though. My god, the roofs are all 3 dimensional as they are in reality. Shapes and angles, all match. Very impressive. They do have my house as dark green instead of grey, but that’s no big deal. Trees are oddly placed, like flat up against the front of my house. A major highway here though did have like 15 houses in it, so not sure what that was about. I have trouble understanding how everything can be so perfect and then something be way off. Computers though.
Yeah these aren’t what I’m caring about or they are damn well good enough for a flight sim, but just pointing it out. The models are fine.
First time playing a flight sim? 😛
Because it has been a bit of a science to manage performance vs looks since the very first flight sim ever came out. Trust me, even today, on the most advanced civilian flight sim out there, Prepar3d V4(which uses the same engine), you still need to play with the slides to get looks and performance. It gets a bit more difficult when you shove in more technically advanced addons, like PMDG level of stuff.
only governments have access to highly detailed sat views, if microsoft does, they arent allowed to release them, the government doesnt want the average joe, to have so much potential recon information
They only show the good parts.
the game looks fkn amazing but these games are definitely not for me. I don’t think I could just sit there for hours slowly flying over bing maps. I need something to do. it’s the ultimate walking simulator right here. just glue the forward button down and sit back in your chair for as long as you want till you see an airport you like
Technically, and being quite technical here, it doesn’t involve just pressing one button. The management of flight, even on a more modern plane, where there is a lot of automation, is quite taxing. There are moments where you can actually relax a little, but never completely, like in a walking simulator. The most tense moments are taking off and landing. Where, due to lack of a co-pilot, you have to manage the auto-pilot, input the right numbers, make sure you don’t screw up, check for traffic, talk to the tower, and more(and with certain addons, which improves the weather simulation, or add G-forces to the passengers, its gets more challenging). It gets a bit worse when it is a more analog plane, and it is pissing outside, or very foggy.
Obviously all of that predates the fact that most of the time, you need to make a flight plan, which includes fuel calculations, distances, cargo/weight, weather…
It has been the go to game/simulator to test the power of a PC for decades too, since it’s first outing in the 80’s.
Feels like a next gen? Looks like it plays like past Flight Sim games with far less options and intricate detail with controls and cockpit stuff.
Wow that looks so riveting.
dont expect too much *real* detail on the ground, because any sat views from any satellite that the public can access has sh**ty detail, and i think the governments wants to keep it that way, they are probably using an algorithim that makes any detail the game renders completely up
How much do I have to pay to unlock these so called gameplay videos?
I remember playing the first one way back in the day on a K7 350MHz , Voodoo 3 (64 or 128MB ram I think it’s been so long). It also took like 2 weeks to pirate it off a dial up connection. No way could I afford that game back then and just wanted to try it out.
Wasnt it said the military actually used the game in small part for training their pilots?
But it really was a great game for the time period, Im hoping the new one can raise the bar in flight sims like the first one did. I’d actually pay for it this time.
It does look really good. This is the first time I’ve been excited about MFS since 98.
