Konami has just released the launch trailer for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain releases on September 1st on PC, and the PC version will boost better visuals (similarly to MGS: Ground Zeroes). Enjoy!

I believe is just a trailer transition that gives the wrong impression, although Hideo writing is “peculiar” so… I won’t say anymore, but I think it isn’t a spoiler.

I think you should play the games Metal gear and 2 on MSX emulation. They have way more diolog then the nes versions.
I did but I don’t remember that. I started the franchise in 98 on playstation when I was just a kid.
Metal gear 1/2 nes were about Solid just like Metal Gear Solid on PS1, 2 on PS2/Xbox360, Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater was about Big Boss and how he became Big Boss, and Metal Gear Sold 4 Guns of Patriots was mainly about Snake and his aging while dealing with Liquids vendetta of being not as good as Snake. Aka the Old man fight of the Century. The same aging that was talked about by Raiden in MGS2 on PS2.
I never bought a ps3 so I never got to see what MGS4 was like but just a glimpse. Never really like the Iraqi kind of desert battlefield but I bet it was a masterpiece since IGN gave it a 10/10. I still believe to the day that MGS 2 was the best. However I may be wrong since I’m missing a piece of the puzzle.
It’s about as much a spoiler as going into the second Star Wars trilogy knowing Anakin Skywalker is going to become Darth Vader…. it’s not really a spoiler. You shouldn’t be surprised by this either as you’ve clearly played MGS, where the events of pre-MGS games (including the exploits of Big Boss) are already detailed.
The thing you posted though is potentially HUGE and plays into various (unconfirmed) fan theories that have been floating around.

That’s nothing in comparison to the 30e pricetag of ground zeroes at launch. Took me 70 minutes to play through and only then you even unlock some small side quests. Even the 5e I payed for it was a stretch.

For those who are upset about the “losing his face” aspect of the trailer, i actually LOVE that part of the trailer as it hints at events to come later in the series.
If you played Metal Gear, you would know that Solid Snake burns Big Boss’ skin off in MG2, leaving him in a coma. I do believe this trailer hints at those events unfolding in TPP, which would be amazing, as that fully completes the timeline between the Big Boss timeline and the Solid Snake timeline.
But that happened at a different timeline. I think Kojima is pretty much saying snake becomes The enemy he wants to destroy. As for solid snake being in the game he very well could be since he would be in his early 20’s because of the aging effect from being a clone
Not really on a different timeline. It is after the 80s sure, more like 1994-96 if i recall correctly for the events of MG1/2. However, the end of the trailer has this:

This hints at the creation of Outer Heaven being in the game, which is the organization Solid Snake has to infiltrate to stop Big Boss in MG1. We are coming full circle here.
guys I don’t want start a flame war against not authorised keysellers but if you look for instant-gaming you can find the steam key of this game @ 35€. About ground zeroes dunno you guys but I paid 12€ (which Imo is still a bit high for less than 1 hour game).
In ground zero there are both skull head and snake…. so it means there are 2 snakes at the same time?
Metal Gear can transform now and become gundam…. but it downgraded in MGS 1 and no longer able to transform, why? MGS 5 is prequel of MGS 1 isn’t it?…. because big boss was dead in MGS 1.
Skull Face is setting things up in GZ. Big Boss Aka Snake/Naked Snake is in a coma for 9 years after that events in GZ which open up for the Phantom Pain.
Big Boss is fighting Skull Face and his force in Phantom Pain. Different Metal Gears have different abilities. And Big Boss does not really die he is kept alive by nano tech and does not die until Metal Gear Solid 4. And Metal Gear Phantom Pain is a prequel to the Original MSX Metal Gear games and take place story wise way after Big Boss kills Boss in MGS3 snake eater.
