  1. Guys, this isn’t isometric perspective. It’s just a slightly tilted top-down view, like for example RPG Maker games.

    1. Yup, and every gaming news site calls it isometric. I wonder who started this misinformation. Probably Gloomywood?

    1. If they keep advertizing as “HUR DUR FROM THE CREATORS OF ALONE IN THE DARK” they will, but from what i have seen either the game is trash or they are not showing anything good in the trailer, lets see if pewdiepie clone number 24234233th plays it and if the game is any good or just trash.

    1. honestly man this game looks like a failure as it is, the character models alone are killing the immersion.

        1. No, I mean why are you interested in them dropping Denuvo, but not in other thousands of developers not dropping Steamworks DRM.

          1. So basically stop selling on the Steam store then?, stop selling on the Origin, Uplay, GoG stores as well by that logic.

          2. How do you manage to arrive to that conclusion? There are DRM-free games on Steam. Click on .exe, Steam client doesn’t open and the game loads.

          3. The store itself acts as a form of DRM if you haven’t already looked at the big picture.

          4. You’re wrong, as I said already in the previous message, there are DRM-free games on Steam that once installed you can launch freely completely bypassing Steam, like with GOG.

          5. No, not really. Look at how it works, the Steam store itself is a form of DRm, like it or not. The store sells games that you then have no choice *but* to use on the Steam platform via their client, which itself is a form of DRM, so both the store and client work in tandem, thus making themselves a form of DRM altogether, to keep you *locked* into their ecosystem.

What games you claim not using Steam are in the minority compared to the vast majority that require Steam to function, as wella s being compared to, I dunno, all the DRM free games on GoG.

          6. DRM-free games on Steam may be in the minority, sure, but that doesn’t mean they don’t exist. They do, and that means the Steam store itself is not a form of DRM. It can’t be explained much simpler than that.

          7. I’m not arguing that they don’t exist, I’m arguing that they are the minority vs the games that actually require the Steam client and store to exist and run.

End of the day, the eco system is Steam, can’t say it’s not an open ecosystem.

          8. But I’m not disputing the fact that DRM-free games are a minority in Steam, on the contrary.

As we’ve both established, there are DRM-free titles on Steam, so the point here is why Denuvo DRM bothers you but Steamworks DRM doesn’t.

          9. If you want to deal in absolutes then you need to also be rid of them.

I’m very sure in your life you have come across a time where you liked something but didn’t like the other option or whatever was presented before you, unless your entire life revolves around absolutes, which doesn’t get one very far in life to begin with.

          10. I’m not dealing in absolutes, I’m not saying all DRM is the same. Starforce for example damaging CD drives back in the day is a big no-no. Tages and it’s activation limits too.

I’m just legit curious why everybody complains so vividly about Denuvo but don’t say a peep about Steamworks DRM.

          11. YOu are. You are telling me that not liking one version of DRM, means I should also dislike the other, ergo an absolute.

DRM is DRM, no matter how many forms there are, they serve as a form of DRM, their end result.

have you ever researched into Denuvo itself, how it came about, who created it and it’s primary purpose, outside of reading our comments and complaints of it?.

          12. Oh come on, you’re saying I deal in absolutes because I don’t understand how, out of 2 similar DRM systems, you dislike one and don’t mind the other?

I haven’t done any overly in-depth research like that on Denuvo, no. That’s mainly why I’m asking here. And I’m not looking for a long analysis, either, just a few bullet points will do.

  2. Wow… really? What an utter waste of my time.

First link says Denuvo goes online to validate activation. Well, since you’re downloading the game through Steam, you’re online already. It’s not like you have to use a separate launcher o input your cdkey in the Denuvo website or something. In the Tales of Berseria Steam forum a user says the game works fine in offline mode.

Second link is actually laughable. First bullet point blames Denuvo if Steam locks you out of your account. Uh-huh, makes sense…
Second bullet point is an outright lie since there are Denuvo games that work in MacOS and Linux. Skimmed through the rest of that drivel without finding anything interesting or worthwile.

Third link is a random dude crying about Denuvo ‘limitations’ What limitations are those?

So, it sounds to me you just hopped on the ‘Denuvo hating bandwagon’ and are just parroting baseless claims made by butthurt pirates (not saying you’re a pirate).

Bottom line is Denuvo is not much different than Steamworks DRM. Call it ‘dealing in absolutes’ or spin it whichever way you like.

      1. Exactly, all this time you danced around the question about why you don’t like Denuvo DRM, but Steamworks DRM doesn’t bother you at all. Never providing a single piece of valuable information or coherent counterpoints.

        1. Not really. This whole time you’ve been dancing to the tune of “I’m right, you’re wrong, you should agree to what I say and hate Steamworks DRM, otherwise you’ve lost, kind of debate that’s gone on the past few days.

You are literally trying to call it a fact that they aren’t different, that you’re right and I’m an idiot (let’s honestly not pretend that you want that, because you’ve been going so close to insults like calling me a sodding parrot).

          1. My first reply to you:

“Why? Do you also wonder when other devs will drop Steamworks DRM?”

And you immediately launched into a nonsense tangent about devs not using the Steam store anymore.

All this time I have been just asking you: why Denuvo bothers you so much, but Steamworks DRM doesn’t. You never came up with an answer.

          2. I pointed you towards links, allowed you to look around for yourself, but instead you argue with “it’s the same, so I’ll ask again, why do you hate that which is the same?”, it’s like you are basically setting up for a typical “I thought so, I Was right” kind of debate.

There is no arguing with you if they are apparently factually “the same”, so by your logic I should hate the other and get it over with, except I’m not going to.

Last reply from me because it’s going nowhere and hasn’t for days. If you want to toss in a witty retort, don’t bother, it only makes the perception and general view worse off.

          3. Well, if for me it’s the same (or at least on the same level), and for you it’s not, I’d like to know why. That is all.

You pointed me towards useless links, and I commented about why each of them is useless.

Maybe you didn’t like or felt comfortable with my way of asking but all along you kept dancing around the issue, and it’s kind of hard and frustrating to try and have a civilized discussion with someone doing that, get it?

          4. Let me ask you something, why do we need two layers when we can have one that already works?.

Why do we need 2, sometimes 3 layers of DRM at all?.

I get that you’re trying to be civil and all, but you didn’t need to lump me in as some parrot. I understand why it exists and it’s general purpose, as the same for Steamworks, I just think we do not need 2-3 layers of DRM slapped on top of 1.

          5. Of course we don’t need it, I never said we need it.

The whole pont here is why layer 1 doesn’t bother you, but layer 2 (Denuvo) is horrible. Meanwhile, nobody complains about layer 2 (Rockstar Social Club – far, FAR more intrusive limiting and problematic that Denuvo)

Sorry if the ‘parroting’ thing bothered you, but since you haven’t provided a straight answer as to why exactly Denuvo is so bad, I can only assume you’re just repeating what other misinformed people are saying. Makes sense, don’t take it personal.

          6. I hated R* social club, I hate how Uplay acts as a forced layer 2 on top of Steam, why would I have to love Denuvo out of those other two?.

I don’t think it’s much about “what” about it bothers me, it’s why can’t I live with it or acknowledge that I’d have to.

You know we don’t need 2-3 layers, that I dislike the other forms I just mentioned, so why do I specifically have to mention some one detail, that you likely already know of, to you exactly?. I know you said you *want* to know, burt why specifically do you actually *want* to know why I, one person out of 7 billion, dislike having two layers of DRM, or more specifically this one type of DRm that everyone else hates?.

Again you’re rolling with the parrot part, you stepped back a bit, showed some civility, but then came back with “well i’ve no choice since you won’t answer the way I want, so I’ll take it back, sorry pal no choice”, that doesn’t cut it, that just shows you taking back what you said. it’s not that I’m taking it personally, it’s that you’re using it in a way to actually insult others, like it or not, calling someone a parrot isn’t a kind thing to say in any sense, the majority of people don’t like being called a parrot or “broken record”, so using it in that sense means to insult, if you didn’t mean to insult me or anyone else then you wouldn’t use such a phrase/term.

Also you mentioned “misinformed”, so you do actually know what’s going on before those links and everything in general, so why me specifically, what do you actually hope to gain from my disliking of that layer of DRM?, what does it actually net you of great importance, outside of trying to get a win from a debate (because trying this hard over some days is telling me a different story altogether, not many spend days going back and forth like this unless they have/seek something to gain).

          7. Uh… no one is saying you have to ‘love’ Denuvo… where did that come from?

You’re so offended about the parroting thing, took it as an insult, and yet one of those links you put as ‘proof’ of how bad Denuvo is, was just some random dude whining ‘Denuvo is bad because… uh… limitations!!!1!’ I may or may not consider it an insult to waste the time of someone looking for actual information, but I certainly don’t get my panties in a twist over it. I didn’t call you a parrot again, I just explained to you why I did it.

And this was never supposed to be a ‘debate’ if you had just simply answered my question. If you didn’t feel like doing so you could have just said so, or simply ignored me.
