Crytek has released the GDC 2018 tech demo video for its first-person PvP bounty hunting game, Hunt: Showdown, showcasing the capabilities of CRYENGINE V. Some of the highlights of this video are the Vulkan Renderer, voxelization, the Global Illumination effects and the shadows that are cast by the sun.
Like its previous titles, Hunt: Showdown – and all games using CRYENGINE V – feature ‘touch bending’, meaning that players can bend the grass or bushes as they pass.
CRYENGINE V also features Vegetation Detail Bending, Terrain Blending, Steam Integration functionalities and PFX2,
Enjoy!

Glad to see this. It’s been far too long since Crytek released a graphics demo.
No kidding I was thinking the same thing I really missed those, remember the tessellated frog!
Too bad this game is multiplayer only.
Right? I could see singleplayer being awesome in this world.
That’s where the money is at right now. There’s going to be more online games than offline single player games for a while until the market becomes too lopsided with too many multiplayer games and then the pendulum will begin to swing the other way for a while and we get more single player games.
Exactly, its not that its jsut MP, its PVP only and that in itself kills the game for many people. A shame they are wasting a good engine on this lame pvp mode only. no reason at all why the devs cant implement two versions of the game with PVP hosted servers and PVE hosted. Such a waste!
Worry not.
Hunt: Showdown player count increases 15,930 per cent after going F2P.

LOL and down to 0 week after. That game had so much potential. It’s really sad.
I’ll never invest in a game that relies on other players. If the game’s population dies off then I’ve wasted my money. If it’s FTP, then cool.
100% this, sucks they can’t do a Warhammer: Vermintide 2 on it. To me WHV2 is really awesome how it has both SP and MP hashed out.
too bad for filthy pirate losers
I wish it had more PVE content and less of a BR style focus.
The devs were told, many of us in the community pleaded with them to implement PVE servers, but thats falling on deft ears. they just dont give a sh*t about appeasing the PVE community.
That’s pretty much why I don’t see myself buying the game. This whole multiplayer focus on having nothing but BR and PVP just serves to put me off wanting to dive into future MP titles. I just want some PVE and co-op non PVP experiences, but it seems those are reserved for small indie companies and cute looking titles.
Such a beautiful game! Love playing it. over 50hours as of now. Very intense.
“Hunt: Showdown, showcasing the capabilities of CRYENGINE”
Or ‘Hunt: Slowdown’ as the console versions will be referred to.
Going to assume the current Early Access build isn’t running on Vulkan. Hint: It’s probably not, it runs like a 2 legged dog at the moment.
HUNT HOGA HUNT HOGA HUNT HOGA!
Looks beautiful…maybe someday we can get crysis 4…
