Bethesda has lifted the preview embargo for Doom: The Dark Ages, and a number of gameplay videos have appeared online. So, we’ve decided to share with you two PC videos that showcase the game running on an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090.
These two 4K videos will give you an idea of how the preview build of this new Doom game runs on the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090. However, I’m certain that these videos are WITHOUT Path Tracing.
Moreover, neither Xboxygen nor Cerealkillerz shared the PC graphics settings. They haven’t even included a Performance Overlay. So, we don’t really know the graphics settings that were used. We also don’t know the exact framerates the NVIDIA RTX 5090 can achieve at 4K.
Doom: The Dark Ages will be a single-player, action FPS prequel to the critically acclaimed DOOM (2016) and DOOM Eternal. As always, you will assume the role of the DOOM Slayer, the legendary demon-killing warrior fighting endlessly against Hell.
The biggest feature of Doom: The Dark Ages is its parry system. Although this will be a fast-paced game, it will allow players to parry attacks. So, think of it as a mix of Doom 2016 and Sekiro? Okay okay, the parry window is not as tight as the one for Sekiro. Still, this description can give you an idea of what you can expect from it.
Since these videos are from a preview build, they may not represent the quality of the final game. Or at least that’s what Bethesda and id Software would claim. Realistically, we are two months away from its release. So, the final game will most likely look and play exactly the way we see here.
Bethesda plans to release Doom: The Dark Ages on May 15th. As we’ve already reported, the game will support Full Ray Tracing/Path Tracing on PC. Thus, we can assume that it will support DLSS 4 and Multi-Frame Gen. After all, Indiana Jones already supports the latest version of DLSS.
Enjoy the videos and stay tuned for more!

Feels like Fortnite. Gore seems to be almost non existent.
R.I.P DOOM
It's going to release on May 15, just wait a few weeks later until the tr4nnies who work at id Software put the groomer flag in June in their PFP like pretty much every ((("free, peaceful, innocent pacifist and civilized Western"))) groomer company nowadays (Japanese companies aren't completely innocent either, in fact, a lot of them are just like these Western groomers).
Since Doom 3 man
doom3 still had some heart of the original games in there these new ones dont.
Come on, stfu, Doom 3 was a very slow console horror game with enemies not too threatening that you could kill easily using a controller.
you are retarded
no u
doom3 is faster since you can strafe jump like quake
Doom 1 + 2 feel completely different to Doom3 which feels completely different to Doom 2016 which feels completely different to Doom Eternal. So actually, changing things up is pretty Doom-y
That's almost word for word what GMan said in his video.
I'll tell you why that "changing being Doom-y" is wrong, and even the G-man poser weeb r3tard (wait, sounds familiar to some John P?) is wrong, pay attention:
Because back strictly in the 90s, and you had to be there to live it and understand it, with Wolfenstein, Doom 1 and 2, and Quake 1 to 3, and that is 5 games plus expansions, they had a common vibe of kicking massive amounts of a5s without gimmicks or bullsh*t. Even Q2 which wasn't as good and even wasn't meant to be a Quake game, still was an honest game. Just hair-chested manly games. So, id software had a very defined identity that made them the bosses of FPS games.
And then in 2000s after the golden era and losing many team members, they came along with the absolute bullsh*t of Doom 3 and Quake 4, which were nothing more than terribly consolized versions of their games to cash on the fads at the time like horror or military games, with lots of stupid dialog and cinematics and gameplay and overall style that was quite off for the franchises.
That's where you can draw the line: the classic id was gone, these games were being defiled, and since then they have just consolized their games even more.
I have been there.
And while you can reason or explain WHY it changes over and over, this does not change the fact THAT it changes.
Oook, I’ll give you that it does, BUT it’s irrelevant for fans of the originals, with the original identity, so it can do whatever it wants, doesn’t matter as long as they’re not really Doom games.
The first gameplay video has muted the music and the player is slow so that makes it look bad, although i have to say i did not enjoy eternal's sound design which seems to be back. This isnt bad but i am not impressed by it, seems like a slower eternal in the first video but faster in the second. The reason the requirements are high is due to how large the level are. I like large levels but oldschool map design meant that the environment was interesting to explore, meanwhile in these videos we see that the maps are effectively borderlands style maps. Meaning outdoor hubs with 1/5 collected/destroyed kind of objectives to do and in combination with the different colored resources the game seems to have, it seems to me that there is gonna be alot of repetitive slop grind in this game to justify the 70 bucks price. The dragon section while it looks cool and of course has nothing to do with doom, is very slow, so the dragon can hover now and you have to destroy shield parts? I dont get whose idea was that slow dogfights are good, no, you want fast dogfights so you can do strafing runs. All this button pressing to dodge attacks and execute that large demon with a cutscene reminds me the era of dreaded qte boss fights in the x360 and ps3. I am not impressed by this, i might pick it on a sale when i upgrade my pc, but yeah this was meh.
The idea was not to make another Doom Eternal. This isn't Call of Duty which was recycled so much over the years that it now looks like a fifth generation of an inbreed Alabama family. Every Doom game offers different experience, which is a good thing, because otherwise it would get old fast.
To me it got old really fast on Eternal. Forcing players to switch guns every 0,2 seconds because the limited ammo is the dumbest move they could’ve made. Hugo Martin was better off drawing Pacific Rim jaegers. And I think he’s way over his head in game development.
Come on, there wasn't that much weapon switching. Not to mention not every weapon was great against every type of enemies, so you'd have to switch weapons regardless of ammo.
Oh dear. The more it becomes diluted the less it becomes Doom.
Somehow Doom Eternal made me think more about classic God of War games than Doom itself, with so many platforming sections.
I can barely tell what's going on with all of the colorful visual effects thrown at my face.
All the loot on the ground makes it look like god of war 2018 and its sequel.
Pre-remove Denuvo from this title as soon as possible and also take the bloody DRM out of Wukong. Lordy
I think I would have preferred this as a Hexen / Heretic reboot with more / new enemy variety rather than rehashing enemies from the previous Doom games.
Creatively bankrupt spoiled tr4nnies born with a silver spoon into their mouths leeching with their bloody vampiric Talmudick fangs on another beloved classic gaming IP and exploiting its successes of the past I see.

Can't wait for this garbage to flop commercially (as well as getting widely panned among the real Doom fans) followed by id Software's closure less than a year later and ultimately for these tr4nnies to end up living on the streets, feeding on trash cans.

I'm a classic DOOM fan, and I hated the 2016 DOOM reboot. As much as I would have wished it was a commercial failure, it wasn't… For some reason that I can't fathom, the masses loved it. Same with those stupid Wolfenstein alternate reality games where the Nazis won WWII.
At least the combat in wolfenstein remakes were fun as hell despite the fact that they were typical tr4nny/jewish/evangelist propaganda.
Me too! I loved the classic Doom games (don't forget Doom 64 too!), I even loved Doom 3 a lot too (I understand that a lot of Doom fans disliked it, but I personally liked it). Doom 2016 and Eternal were just decent at the very best, and terrible in all fairness.
The much-hyped "glory kills" aren't even that polished or impactful to deserve becoming "iconic", Brutal Doom did its "glory kills" far better and actually felt far more polished, brutal and impactful than the reboot series (back then they called them "fatalities" before the reboot even existed).
This "Dark Ages" garbage should flop like the dumpster fire it already is. The only "success" it will achieve is because it has the name "Doom" slapped on it, and the brain dead normies will of course still swallow it because normies buy names and not games.
EDIT: Regarding what you said here:
Same exact thing here! I wish it was a commercial failure and taught id Software a lesson that it's a actually terrible game and never made a sequel for it; Doom 2016 had sound effects that are beyond terrible (the literal worst sound effects I've ever heard in a so-called "AAA FPS"), "glory kills" that are barebones at best that don't deserve becoming a "meme" among these fake Doom "fans" (let alone among the entire modern "gaming" community), and the core gameplay itself that feels what even an indie developer could make something better than that (even by 2016 indie standards. Remember, we had an indie FPS called Killing Floor all the way back in 2009 and it was a much, much better FPS than Doom 2016). They bought into the hype created by fake Doom "fans" and here we are, this is exactly what led us into the creation of the garbage that we have right here.
The reboot series is only hyped by gayme journalists and apologists deluding themselves by fake nostalgia about games that they never even played in the first place, and the Doom "fans" who "like" it only "like" it merely by courtesy and nothing more. Idiots were hyping it like it's one of the best FPSs in decades back then, only for me to be overwhelmed by how underwhelming it actually was when I finally had the chance to try it for myself.
Speaking of Killing Floor, I actually did enjoy it more than Doom 2016, and I find horde mode games boring.
When playing Doom 2016 I had to force myself to continue. I wasn't even really certain what it was I wasn't enjoying but I remember thinking the combat wasn't that good, the "glory kills" were stupid, I didn't enjoy most of the guns, I kept getting stuck on the blasted floors, and the "Hell" levels just seemed tedious to me… I did eventually figure out how to make the game less blurry, and I enjoyed it more after that (I really hate blurry game graphics), but overall the game left a sour taste in my mouth and I haven't really been able to play it since.
Oh, and the game now crashes on launch in Vulkan mode for me, which it wasn't doing years ago during my first playthrough. Lots of people on Steam Discussions are having this crashing issue too, and I doubt it's ever going to get fixed. So much for Doom 2016 being the poster game for the Vulkan API… Queue our resident Linux fanboy popping in to claim I wouldn't be having issues if I was playing the game on Linux/Steam Deck/Proton/whatever.
You absolutely 100% nailed it. Hats off to you.
EDIT: Also I forgot to say, playing Doom 2016 for the first time years ago and realizing how terrible it actually was only reminded me of a fake "Doom 4" video I saw long ago (like any old video on JewTube back then about faking a sequel that doesn't actually exist) about a Killing Floor mod that replaces the enemies of KF with the monsters from Doom (sprites and not 3D models of course).
I've looked up that video after playing Doom 2016 in 2019 and even that mod in particular to no avail; I could not find that video even back then and the mod has been seemingly lost long ago (AFAIR, the video was from 2009 and I first saw it around 2012-2013).
What's more interesting is that KF doesn't actually have even a single enemy that floats in the air like the Cacodemons do. God, that mod only makes me want to download it and play Killing Floor as if it was the true Doom 4.
I remember a DOOM map, but I don't remember mods that changed the enemies. I had a friend who loved Killing Floor, so I spent a lot of hours playing it, and that map was one of our favorites.
It wasn't a failure for the same reason why Painkiller in 2004 wasn't a failure: because it was a fun game.
If it was "fun" as you say, then why was it so painful to play?
For you. It was painful to play for you. I and majority of others had no issues. Then again, I never stopped playing doom shooters (or boomer shooters), so I felt at home.
U gotta be utterly r3tarded to think this is gonna flop.
So…
U gotta be utterly r3tarded to think this is gonna flop.
So…
Oh, welcome back to the laughing stock of DSOGaming! We sure missed our favorite punching bag!

From someone who grew playing Doom I & II, it's still an insult to the franchise, it's an arcade consolized game for impressionable teens, though it sells a lot.
Watch the videos pretending it's a game from an indie, that it doesn't carry the Doom name, and ultimately it's an Ok arcade shooter with a lots of unconvincing and forced mechanics like:
– the r3tarded 'parry the green projectiles'
– mash the buttons to stunlock enemies with different attacks
– throw the shield to kill all the trash mobs
– pick up the colored confetti
– no blood
– what's that wimpy fake sounds of the weapons, even the shotgun?
– dull and linear flying dragon (wtf?) almost-QTE sections thrown in. Same with the super dumb gameplay of the giant robots.
– tons of forced storytelling cutscenes with wtf characters and overdone wtf lore pulled ot of their 4sses.
A f*cking disgrace.
Nobody has a 5090. This is not relatable content to anyone in the actual target audience of the game. AAA studios have completely lost the plot. You can't just pretend like it's 2010 and we can all buy new GPUs cheaply. We can't. Normal gamers simply are not upgrading any more. Stop pretending like nothing changed.
Came to post the same sentiment. Majority of gamers don’t care how this or that game looks on the most expensive GPU ever as majority cannot afford the most expensive GPU.
looks jewish and gay, no thx
i know most people in this comment section saw the 1st comment's negative orientation and didn't want to contradict the mass vibe. but i have my opinion about this one. i think that Doom 3 was a good game but not what i wanted from doom, Doom 2016 and eternal were the natural evolution of the formula with their rock paper scissor shotgun rhythm based mechanic, if they've wanted to return to form it would be a call of duty dilemma all over again, Doom Dark ages has so many thing right, the visuals and performance, hard metal music, creative weapon design and gory feedback of bullet impact, the main concern for me is the colorful hand holding bullet hell mechanic that i don't like, but to all doom fans i can only say have fun ripping and tearing ( also parrying ) and i think i enjoy this one.
It makes my eyes hurt watching gameplay videos of this sh*t.
It's not DOOM, it's a mobile game.
The first Painkiller (2004) looked more fun than this.
True words. I replay the black edition on regular basis and still looks and feels stunning in the gameplay aspect.
The UI and overall gameplay loop seems tailor-made for Fortnite kids.
I'd rather play a true Painkiller remake, which we won't get as the one that is being made is just using the Painkiller franchise name.
This is not a game – it's a product that might contain fractions of a game.
Will the XBX-SX/PS5-Pro version be a RT-Free (unlike PC) in order to increase performance on those consoles !!!!?????
I wish I could see this running on a card I might actually have a chance of getting or ever using. It is giving off major God of War vibes also with the parrying.
why am i getting mobile game ad feeling…….. not gonna lie looks very generic shooter….& there will be also cartoon skins … + what are these graphics looks like 2017-2019
