Half Life Alyx screenshots-9

Here are 9 minutes of brand new gameplay footage from Half-Life: Alyx

Valve has released three new videos, showing nine minutes of brand new gameplay footage from Half-Life: Alyx. Half-Life: Alyx is a new VR Half-Life game, and these gameplay videos will give you an idea of what you can expect from it.

Half-Life: Alyx is Valve’s VR return to the Half-Life series. The game tells the story of an impossible fight against a vicious alien race known as the Combine. Furthermore, the game is set between the events of Half-Life and Half-Life 2.

In Half-Life: Alyx, players will immerse themselves in deep environmental interactions, puzzle solving, world exploration, and visceral combat. Players will lean to aim around a broken wall and under a Barnacle to make an impossible shot. Players will also rummage through shelves to find a healing syringe and some shotgun shells.

There is no doubt that the game looks great, though it’s a bummer that this is only a VR game. Valve also does not currently have any plans to release a non-VR version of Half-Life: Alyx.

Half-Life: Alyx releases on March 23rd!

    1. as someone who likes moving alot in shooters, i will have to give it to doom eternal, teleporting is awful for me.

          1. I tried VR several times but for short periods, never had motion sickness with continuous walk, i don’t know about long playtime tho, but a lot of people are complaining about it, so the teleport option is good for accessibility

      1. Yeah, go ahead play it, Do I lose anything ? nope. That looks like shlt and the jarring movement (apparent with VR) with the slow paced game play is crap for an FPS shooter that is like Half-Life and not continuing the HL2’s Cliffhanger. On top the game fidelity is awful, and the protagonist and the whole story is around Alyx not Gordon.

And this is the BS what fans deserve after 12 years and not HL3 ? yeah dude shill somewhere else.

VR is a dead platform. I hope it stays like that. Else 100% sure there will be digital exclusive bs and always OL bs as well with tons of MTX and SJW drivel on top.

Many people play Fortnite and BR, Pubg and all online game. Same shlt for that McDonalds crappy heart disease burgers, mega billion dollar corporation so now what ? Because its successful or popular it’s great ?

        Enjoy your glorified rubbish.

        1. For sure, someone with some very deep pockets and involved with VR has invested a few good millions, to convince valve to make a VR version of one of the most iconic titles…
Ohh…oh… I’m receiving a message in my left ear, saying google could easily have invested 20 or 30 millions… which, too them, with their 500+ billion dollars cash they have, is like a water drop in lake or ocean.

Otherwise, I don’t see any other reason, for Valve to go VR..

At the end, I believe valve had been asked by Google to make a vr game based on the half life universe… that will help selling afew vr kits, and a few million copies. Of course, there will also be some special game modes, some special weapons, etc, available as microtransactions, that the big half life fans will happily pay.

IF the game ends up being quite successful, gamers will then get a proper half life 3 game.
And that’s the reason why they didn’t call the vr game ‘halflife 3 – Alyx’, but only ‘half life-alyx’

They are reserving the full “half-life 3” name, for the REAL thing.

  1. Looks great other than the teleportation movement. I hope full natural locomotion is an available option at launch or after an update.

      1. Wow, I don’t even know how I didn’t notice that yesterday when I watched it. Maybe the fact that it had me enthralled the whole time is why I overlooked it.

  2. Oh wow!! i need to buy me a VR headset right now!!! /s
Absolute crap, House of the Dead did the same without the VR meme ffs.

        1. Because it has hands ?? C’mon, the game is not even out yet and already looking way more impressive

      1. So? is not impressive at all. I can do the same and in reasonable accurate way with a mouse and keyboard.

        1. That is bullshit. I have been playing gunheart and I always do better with accuracy than keyboard and mouse players. Hell I’ve been playing Quake I VR in multiplayer and I have been much better at the game than before.

    1. It is not F..ing VR, because VR is the best thing that happened to gaming in a few decades. It is better than 4k , hdr or ray traising . You are in the game there is nothing better. Try Bordelands 2 ,Skyrim ,Fallout VR or any other game and compare to flat screen. How can you not like it ?

      1. You need 1000$ for proper Valve Index VR and you get only lazy ports of older games for VR , tech demos, 1 maybe 2 big good games and tons of asset filps. It’s just not worth it right now.

        1. It depends on what you play. For me racing games alone are worth the price. I have Oculus Rift S and it is more than enough . You do not need Valve index. I also have t300 racing wheel. So these are the games for racing :
Raceroom , Asseto corsa and Asseto corsa competizione , Dirt rally and Dirt Rally 2.0. , F1 2019 , Race Factor 2 , Project Cars 2 and maybe the new Forza will get the VR support. There is also games exclusive to VR . So if you think 400 is too much this is your opinion. For me it is worth it . Also there are few games with planes and the upcoming Microsoft flight sim will get the support for VR. There is nothing even close to VR experience, even today there is enough games to enjoy. Also by looking at some reports how many VR headsets were sold in 2019 I think very soon we will see massive increase in games made for VR or at least supporting VR. Also you can turn every single non VR game into 3d using Reshade and Virtual desktop app. So you can play all games with 3d effect just like in movie theatre.

          1. Good point about racing games. I wonder how stressful Dirt Rally can be
in VR. If you are a big car fan then yes VR is perfect for that.

          2. Yes I am a car fan 🙂 for me VR is perfect. I can spend there the whole day but I gave it to try it to my friend and he removed VR after 2min in a sweat and sick. In a racing game he was scared because sense of speed and maybe other reasons which he could’t understand , then I convinced him to put on VR again 🙂 he was a passenger and i was controlling a plane with xbox controller in a Aerofly FS 2 Flight Simulator but if I made a quick move he immediately got sick again. So VR is not for everyone. It is amazing piece of technology but I would highly recommend to try it before making a purchase .

          3. Vr iS GrEaT aNd ThE FuTuRe Of GaMiNg
*Proceed to only list niche racing games*

            Yeah okay buddy.

          4. I’m not 10 or 20 anymore so my games are more mature and maybe niche. Need for speed or Call of duty doesn’t interests me 🙂

  3. I’ll wait for a sale. The big problem with VR is that you still have to strap a brick to your face.

  4. This makes me glad I bought into VR a few months ago. Beat saber was the main reason but now I have this to look forward to as well.

  5. Teleportation is f*king disgusting, why even showcase it with it?
Pistol sounds are really sh*t as well, was expecting something like different sounds as you upgrade the weapon from a modern one to a more scifi looking thing.
    It just sounds like sh*t

  6. Visuals, presentation, physics, voice acting is amazing! But, these were highly scripted presentation-focused gameplay vids….will have to see how it all plays when someone is playing it fast(with whatever pace is possible)!

  7. Finished Black mesa these days, did the original devs became modders? This franchise is a badly managed joke.

  8. It looks great.

However nice it looks, Valve has a history of breaking promises and abandoning games mid-story. It’s annoying, or maybe the right word is insulting – to have this iteration come out when only a slim minority of players will afford it.

Not trying to be negative just for the heck of it, but it’s hard not to keep in mind Valve’s behavior and how they treat long time loyal customers.

    1. Valve managers have the attention spam of a jellyfish, to abandon sucessful franchises at their peak and after 12 or so years make the lamest comeback.

  9. @JOHN, can we trust this story, and does it really hold some valid ground ? Is HALF LIFE 3 really in the works ? Does VALVE plan to continue the Half life saga beyond VR ?

Valve sees Half-Life: Alyx as a “return” to the series – Half-Life 3 confirmed?

    https://www.gameinformer.com/interview/2020/03/03/valve-on-why-half-life-alyx-needed-to-be-in-vr

In a recent interview with Game Informer, Valve has confirmed that they see Half-Life: Alyx as a “return” to the series and “not the end of it”, hinting at future plans for the series beyond Alyx.

At this time, it is unknown if Valve has plans to finally create Half-Life 3, but this is a clear indication of the company’s intent to release more games within the Half-Life universe.
