Sword and Fairy 4 Remake feature

First official gameplay trailer for Sword and Fairy 4: Remake

In December 2024, SOFTSTAR ENTERTAINMENT revealed a remake of Sword and Fairy 4. And now, a year later, its first official gameplay trailer has been leaked online.

Although SOFTSTAR ENTERTAINMENT has not shared any press release for it, we finally get an idea of what this upcoming remake will be like. For starters, the game will be using Unreal Engine 5. And, if this trailer is anything to go by, it will look great.

We also get a few glimpses at the game’s combat system. Sword and Fairy 4: Remake will have a turn-based combat system with active prompts (or QTEs). This is the exact same combat system that Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 used. Players will be able to block enemy attacks and counter them.

Now I have to be honest here. Sword and Fairy 4: Remake borrows A LOT from Expedition 33. The font for the commands, the order in which the characters attack (the portraits at the left), the camera placement, the fact that enemies have health and shields you can break, the QTEs, etc. That’s not a bad thing in my opinion. After all, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was my GOTY. So, I’m all in for more games that play like it. However, I can see why some call it a “Chinese Expedition 33-clone”.

Anyway, as of this moment, there is still no Steam store page for Sword and Fairy 4: Remake. So, I don’t expect we’ll be playing it anytime soon. It looks interesting, though.

Enjoy and stay tuned for more!
