Final Fantasy 7 Remake – New Trailer Shows First Gameplay Footage

Square Enix has released a new trailer for the upcoming Remake of Final Fantasy 7. This trailer features the first gameplay footage from it, showcasing some of the game’s environments and characters, as well as its combat system. Final Fantasy 7 Remake will be coming first on PS4, and it’s highly likely that the game will hit the PC platform afterwards. It looks great, so be sure to check it out. Oh, and since we are fans of the Japanese voices, we’ve only included the game’s Japanese trailer!

  1. If it comes to PC I hope they don’t mess it up with a garbage port like they have been known to do for PC.

      1. If they are smart they will have it out 3/6 months after it launches on PS4. But they are not that smart. And they are not smart enough to have a good Port Dev team bring it to PC. I mean Capcom can bring Dragons Dogma to PC and it looks way better then PS3’s version. Yet S/E has a lot more money and I mean a lot more money then Capcom so why are S/E games from Japan such garbage on PC the majority of the time?

        1. yea they are not very smart. that’s the problem. when i imagine Square Enix i imagine some stubborn old men that can’t change their old ways and get on with time.

they planned their Lightning Return and Dragon Quest Heroes release for PC right after Fallout 4, Just Cause 3, Call of Duty and Assassin’s Creed among others. they should really not expect people to have any extra money in their wallet left for gaming at this point. it feels as if they are hoping it doesn’t sell well so they can make a point.

Yet Capcom and Konami usually manage to find the right timing for their releases. for example you mentioned Dragon Dogma. that game comes out in January. there isn’t much going on in January they might crown themselves as the top seller of January on Steam. then they will conqueror February with Street Fighter V.

although i personally don’t have that much problem with FF13 ports to be honest but yea there are rooms for improvement to say the least. based on Durante’s analysis from their games, it feels they are trying at least.

          1. I hate SE Japan to be honest, they only release their 5-15 year old games on PC and they keep the new ones on consoles. Here you go guys mobile port FF games aren’t we nice? They pretty much treat PC as a quick money grab. How about Nier, Star Ocean or the new FF games.

  2. Wait wait wait wait.. so you can ONLY control Cloud no one else ? I saw in video Barrett was attacking …hummmm

      1. the final version won’t hit 60 fps either but this is a remake has nothing to do with the old engine anyway. then again when games like Divinity Original Sin are locked on 30 fps on consoles, i don’t expect much really from consoles. (probably technical issues etc)

  3. old final fantasy turnbase gameplay style has gone, now video game industry is only making games for mass audience. it is now just only button smashing hack n slash.

  4. Hmm… looks like an action game. Anyhow my favourite Final Fantasy is IX, I do hope someday square will remaster it with higher resolution backgrounds, that’s all I want. I never could get into 7, 8 and 10, they all felt too cheesy to me.
This looks like the advent children movie. it might be a decent action game. I would have preferred to play as Sephiroth, I prefer him and his music over Cloud.

    1. Same, i really liked the characters in IX, anyway there is little chance of a remaster, the original source material is lost..

  5. Barret’s diet has worked!… and no more “I hit you once you hit me once and see who die first” gameplay? lol

    1. oh please it takes skill to randomly kill enemies until a bar fills up and randomly auto use a ultimate attack to kill a weak enemy you didnt choose to use that super attack on.

  6. well this kinda looks….cheap. i mean fans right now are just happy they see a real modern version of FF7 but without the skin it’s really an above average experience it seems. the combat is nothing drool worthy if you take all the flashy effects and it’s not even turn based anymore. plus their cutscenes and cinematics feel cheaper in comparison to what FF13 offered. their budget is kinda limited in comparison it seems.

also the stupid Dub isn’t working. Original Resident Evil had one of the most worst dialogues and voice actings of all time to the point that one or two lines became meme and stuck with the franchise. yet RE HD had a better voice acting and better dialogues (also kept the Sandwich meme) i don’t see why the same shouldn’t happen here. last but not least….is Cloud using lipsticks?

  7. I am disappointed with the third person view but id still buy it if it has turn based combat. If it does not have turn based combat then I am not interested as that and the materia system was an important part of what made FFVII shine for me.

FFVII is my second favourite game of all time.

  8. Really weird how so many people are noticing the framerate on a game that, honestly, shouldn’t conceivably be in any demonstrable shape right now (remember, it hardly existed as little more than a cutscene a few months ago).

None of the other sites have commenters talking about that. But then those sites are filled with people who actually own the platform the game is confirmed for.

I’d say it’s “a shame”. But the truth it it’s more “shameful” if you noticed and felt compelled to comment on the framerate above and beyond everything else in that trailer. And if not, whatever it says isn’t flattering.

  9. This looks awesome, I’m glad its not the same old turn based combat I was afraid that was going to be the case, making the the exact same game with just a heavy graphics update would honestly be a waste of time. if I want to play a turn based game I can go play FF1-8 or the Breathe of Fire games which were some of my favs. Hopefully this remake doesn’t take a millennium to come to PC.
