Crytek’s “Back To Dinosaur” Oculus Rift Tech Demo – Direct Feed Full Length Video Released

Crytek has released the full length direct feed video of its GDC 2015 Oculus Rift Dinosaur Tech Demo. This demo is powered by the latest version of CRYENGINE and showcases amazing visuals and physics effects. Now if a company could use this engine in order to create a new proper triple-A Jurassic Park game, I would be really grateful. Enjoy!

  1. That was pretty neat. They could probably tone down the specular maps a bit, though, maybe add some subsurface scattering. The dinosaurs felt like video game dinosaurs – but I can imagine it’s still pretty believable in VR space and directional headphones.

    1. So we are like 5 years away before we can enjoy max gfx at 90+fps.. at least at a good price. Thats how it looks like so far. Maybe less? But still at least 2 or 3.

    2. You can see some subsurface scattering on the teeth, but, like boniek said, this needs to be able to run at 90fps. The main compromise I noticed was the completely lack of real-time reflections on the puddles in the background. It does still look quite amazing though and I can’t wait to try it on my DK2 (if they release a demo).
