Atari has released a pre-order trailer for Alone in the Dark: Illumination, and this trailer alone will destroy all the hype surrounding it. For starters, while the game uses Unreal Engine 4, its visuals are kind of ‘meh’. Not only that, but the dev team turned this horror game into an action title. It also looks kind of generic. Don’t believe us? Go ahead and watch the trailer, and share your opinion with us!

i don’t expect much from it.
Prey 2 is cancelled and yet we got Alone in the Dark: illumination?
It feels like a weird blend of AAA and cheap game. The part where they repeated the woman’s lightning attacks and the guy’s gun reminded me one of those repeated parts in Honest Trailer videos in Youtube- which they usually used to point out stupid, repetitive parts of a movie(the most famous would be the “stares” in the Twilight sagas).
Looks like one of the most boring experiences ever.
The game retails for $30, so I don’t know if people were expecting AAA material to begin with. I’m just glad it’s a PC-exclusive from a major publisher. Those things are very rare these days.
Atari isn’t a major publisher anymore as it was 2 years ago. I just the name ‘Atari’ and and nothing else.
If that name alone kinda pushes more curious console gamers into PC gaming, I’m all for it. Atari has a brand value that few publishers can match.
With higher quality 15$ titles like The Forest, seriously what is this competiting against? And with cheap AAA games after passage of time, 30$ is a high asking price for a shallow game.
I get your point, but The Forest is a bad example. It’s 15 bucks because it’s in Early Access. From what I’ve read around the boards, the price is likely to go up at full release.
I agree, I chose a bad example.
1st part of trailer: Humm seems promising….
TITLE: And pc excclusive…..
2nd part: WTF????!!!!! SERIOUSLY????? AID???
I don’t mind a bit dated graphics but those animations are just horrible.
Check the jacket of the guy, Its leon jacket on RE6. ANOTHER “I have a lot of bullets” game!!
Kids now days can barely stand a game with puzzles, so lets changes those puzzles for bullets.
It doesn’t look, feel or play like an Alone in the Dark game. Disappointing indeed. The first teaser was very misleading, nothing like the gameplay we can see on this video.
The animation quality of the human characters is non existent.
Looks.. disappointing. Okay the first 30 secs were nice but later on , boom.
Nope.mkv
graphics looks like Resident Evil 4, animations like Resident Evil 2 but with unreal engine 4.
by the looks of it, i’d rather play Clive Barker’s, Clive Barker’s jerico by Clive Barker
Here’s a more fitting title:
Resident In The Dark: Abomination.
This game has nothing to do with Alone in the Dark. But it’s a small budget game so whatever.
WOW THATS UE4? xD they actually managed to make assets so bad it looks like Singularity. A UE2 game. It looks like RE4 actually. WOW.
This and The Sleeping Dogs Triad game are some choice exclusives we get eh?
The whore looks and moves like Lula (from Lula 3D).
I agree with nearly everything being said here but I am one of those types that just can’t resist Co-Op play in a game. Resident Evil did it and AitD is doing it. I will be buying, not day one, but eventually. Sorry but I like Co-Op, more games should include it.
Holy, s**t, so bad? Had no idea, I’ve been playing this game since I used to live in Greece, and that was a good game re pousti.
