ADAM: The Mirror is a new tech video rendered in real-time, showing the power of the Unity Engine

Oats Studios has released a new tech video, continuing the story of Adam from Unity Engine’s first Adam tech demo. This video was rendered in real-time in the Unity Engine and shows what this engine is capable of.

In this video, Adam discovers a clue about what and who he is. And let us tell you that it looks absolutely stunning. To be honest, I’d love to see an “Adam” movie rendered in real-time. Perhaps someone will merge all the episodes that will be released? Who knows. Still, this looks really cool.

It remains to be seen whether a video-game powered by the Unity Engine will be able to match these visuals. A video-game based on this tech demo perhaps? Again, this sounds like a cool idea but will a developer invest on something like that? Who knows.

Enjoy the video!

        1. What you’re saying is wrong. The engine is fine and can produce amazing things. Its just idiots that think they can develop games but have no ability or will to learn that hurt its reputation.

    1. Indeed. I’m still pissed that System Shock remaster devs switched from Unity to UE4. That tech demo looked sweet as hell. With UE4 it looks like Doom-3 or any other horror game.

      1. The Arkham games use the Unreal Engine and they run perfectly fine. Again, I think it’s just how people use it.

    2. I think most devs stay away from it because there are better, more reputable engines to use.

But the engine itself is fine. The owners can’t control who uses it, they could control what goes on their store, but then they’d lose a lot of money.

  1. Yeah, that’s all fine and dandy for Unity, but can we get a dev team that actually knows how to create a game exactly like what was seen in the engine and what it can do?.

Until then it’s a set piece demo and nothing more than a pipe dream.

    1. Wouldn’t creating a game looking like this be really hard to pull off? Bigger maps, more AI, interactivity, etc… In the case of this demo, they’re basically using the engine as a 3D rendering application.

      1. It doesn’t have to be exactly the same, but I don’t want some super watered down game, like we’ve been getting with current devs using Unity.

      2. It’s impossible while they keep targeting games towards consoles. A lot of people don’t even have PCs as good as the consoles now.

  2. To be frank, it doesn’t look better than most games now. So it took a hundred experts to make Unity look like any other contemporary engine, in low complexity scenes like empty oil fields and small indoor environments. They are probably going for the opposite impression, but effectively they’ve proven that it’s NOT feasible to make a good looking game in Unity.

  3. Oats Studios, yaaasss! Check out their other short movies,if you haven’t already. Or,type in the YT search bar Rakka. 🙂
