Honestly amazed how these guys can even made heads or tails of the blurry low-res source textures.
I know right? I have no idea what im even looking at half of the times.. Its almost shocking when you look at the modded pics. 😛
I keep gettin this feeling – OMG SO ITS THAT?!
They achieved that high fidelity by travelling to the same places developers did when they were taking photos for textures. Then they took them in a way higher resolution. Nice devotion from this modding team!
That explains a lot 🙂 I love when modders do a good job like this. It makes me somehow proud of them and being a gamer, even thought im not a modder.
Modders always manage to put a big smile on my face. 🙂
More games should have this opportunity. But with a nice revamp of the animations as well.
Could they add tessellation to this, or enhance the characters with less hard poly edges?
I think that what you are asking are a bit too much. This a retexture.
They would probably need a new engine or something not sure. Be cool to recreate this game in the unreal 4 engine

What the hell? How could they make textures so bad in original? They look ugly even given that the game is from 2005 (look at CoD 2). And textures in official remaster are shameful, too. They must love potatoes.
Well keep in mind it was originally made on 1999 hardware
CoD2 was made for Xbox 360 and PC, RE4 was made for Gamecube, comparing the 2 is disingenuous. I will agree that the game had some pretty low res textures though, even compared to other PS2/Xbox/Gamecube games.
Well, if it was made for Gamecube, it’s more understandable.
Since this week, DSOG has a script that whacks up firefox in winXP.
This is up there with the best retextures, along with MaldoHD for Crysis 2.
In addition to the quality of their work, I’m amazed at how fast these guys are able to make progress and they are phenomenal about keeping the community updated every step of the way. I’ll probably send them a donation once this is complete!
are the comparisons from the original textures or do they mean the original hd textures from the pc version
