Christofer Sundberg, co-founder of Avalanche and creator of Just Cause, has shared the first screenshots from his next triple-A game. This new game will be an open-world title, created by Sundberg’s new studio, Liquid Swords.
Sadly, we don’t have any other details to share about it. Other than these early screenshots, Liquid Swords has not revealed anything at all about it. We don’t even know its title.
These first screenshots at least look great. Most of them give me both Mafia and GTA vibes. So, that’s at least a good sign.
Since we’re looking at a next-gen title, I just hope it will have a lot of interactivity. It’s been a while since we got a game that can amaze players with its physics. So, in theory, PS6 and the next Xbox should be capable of offering something like that, right?
We also don’t know the engine this game will be using. If I had to guess, though, I’d say it’s using Unreal Engine 5. Since Liquid Swords is a new studio, it would make a lot of sense to use UE5.
And that’s that. Overall, it looks promising for an early build. Things will most likely get better once it hits its beta stage.
Enjoy the screenshots and stay tuned for more!

look ma … can create a city block in UE5 !!
will be stutterfest show
silly john this is robocop rogue city in 8k with path tracing on unreal engine 5.
I need a rogue city sequel. My favourite AA game this year by far. Such a comfy game. Sadly I don't think it's going to happen.
Comfy game? What a fegget you are.
same but it wont happen like terminator resistance, i think they gonna make judge dredd next.
Just wanted to let the good folks on this site know that I'm really bored and I'm a4nal m4sturbating right now.
Have ya came yet?
Nope
I'm in my 30s and my body functions similar to my grandpa's.
I can't come and I sh*t every two weeks. I also can't hold my pee or poo in.
I slit the throat of a nugger girl. She smells better dead than alive. Still coming in her, her belly is getting large.
Your mom is going to take your internet away if you keep acting like this on the internet sweetie.
the first screenshot remind me GTA 4
The last one of Mafia…
Nice grounded setting, i hope it goes to a serious realistic game.
Well, it looks good, now to see the gameplay.
Hope the story is good as well.
"So, in theory, PS6 and the next Xbox should be capable of offering something like that, right?"
lol
Since you mentioned avalanche, wouldn't they use the avalanche apex engine? That's what they used on Generation Zero and theHunter COW. It's pretty good for open world games but like UE it does have a generic feel to it a lot of the time especially with buildings-cities type of stuff.
Just the other day I was wondering where the heck all the modern day open world games like Just Cause and Sleeping Dogs have gone. I'm glad GTA isn't the only one in the works now because having just one IP dominate an entire genre is never a good thing in my book. We'll see how this one turns out.
Also, based on the cars, traffic signs and billboards, the game could be set in the 80s or 90s which could be a refreshing thing to see. We got too many Sci-Fi and fantasy games in the market at the moment.
80's or 90's? You were born in 2012 and can't tell the difference you nugger.
I was born in 1990 and I think you’re an absolute moron if you can distinguish the difference in the landscape of a city between the late 80s and early 90s. If we had a closer look at how the pedestrians look in these pictures I think we’d have a better idea of when the game is set. But you seem to have it all figured out because you’re a smart boy. Good on you.
Things don’t change in a blink of eye just because a new decade comes along. People still drive cars today that are decades old because not everybody can afford the latest and greatest, or some take pride and joy in driving vintage vehicles. Back then most middle class families had no choice but to get whatever was most affordable, which just so happened to be older second hand models. So tell me, since you’re a know-it-all, what precise year is this game set in?
That's what amuses me about a lot of period dramas: everyone is driving brand new cars from the year the film is set in.
I’ve never really watched any period dramas but I’ll take your word for it. I don’t expect entertainment to get everything right, even those that strive for accuracy.
Late 80's 1988 vs early 90's 1991 = no difference. Thanks for making yourself known to be a sopping dullard. The rest of your F grade ranting is null and void.
Try again.
Late 80s = 1987โ89/90.
Early 90s = 1990โ93.
And you didn’t answer my question at the end which clearly suggests that you have no idea what decade the game is set in yourself. I guess you’re not as smart as I thought you were. Pity.
No difference, you proved my point dullard!
That looks really good if it's not a bullshot. We've come a long way since the 8bit consoles.
the interactivity and physx are keys that are missing with every new title, just shiny surfaces that you cant do anything with, i really want a game like red faction guerrilla.
A couple of studios are still pushing the industry forward regarding this. Rockstar and Remedy for example. But yes the physics, animations and A.I. has majorly stagnated over the years. Battlefield even managed somehow to "evolve" backwards..
Avalanche is one of those companies that has disappeared this generation, What the F*** have they been doing since 2018/2019? so many developers have stumbled this gen. they make AWESOME games Just cause 3 is a personal favorite, Madmax and Renegade Ops are also beautiful and FUN. this is too far off to get any excitement for but does look solid.
Stupid asa ni**er LOL
What nice Robocop screenshots! I always hoped for a prequel showing Cyberpunk's Night City in earlier times. Man, GTA IV mods have come a long way.
I think we are so good with "wet city" now that games need to be careful not to lose their character. Donรt get me wrong, it looks awesome and I love just wandering around the former mentioned games for their great graphics. But we are walking into "all the same" territory
You pedo
Expecting the worst as usual, the DEI c*aps, stutters, poor fps, heavy reliance on fake resolution and fake frames
Just Cause is a stupid game, but it is a fun game. I like it never represent itself as a serious game and their open world is the highly detailed. I hope they keep making these stupid fun games.
I'd rip your throat out.
I already live in such a horrible suicidal environment, so no thanks.
I'll stay in lush jungles and forests. ๐
Video games are one of my only ways to escape the modern dystopia. (Which is why I also skipped Cyberpunk. Too close to my atrocious reality.)
Compare it with sometime down the line where the whole graphics project will be downgraded.
Finally something I can run at 1 FPS with massive stutter
