SEGA will officially release Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties tomorrow. Powered by the Dragon Engine, it’s time now to benchmark it and examine its performance on PC.
For our benchmarks, I used an AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D, 32GB of DDR5 at 6000Mhz, AMD’s Radeon RX 6900XT, RX 7900XTX, RX 9070XT, as well as NVIDIA’s RTX 2080Ti, RTX 3080, RTX 4090, RTX 5080, and RTX 5090. I also used Windows 10 64-bit, the GeForce 591.86, and the Radeon Adrenalin Edition 26.1.1 drivers.
Ryu Ga Gotoku has added a few graphics settings to tweak. PC gamers can adjust the quality of Geometry, Shadows, Reflections, and more. The game also supports all PC upscalers. As such, you can use NVIDIA DLSS 4, AMD FSR 3, and Intel XeSS 2.0. And while there is no in-game setting for it, you can use the NVIDIA App to enable DLSS 4 Multi-Frame Gen.
Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties is a GPU-bound title. As such, we’ll be focusing on our GPU benchmarks. For our tests, I used one of the starting open-world areas. This should give us a pretty good idea of how the rest of it runs.
All of our GPUs were able to run the game with over 60FPS at 1080p/Max Settings. Similarly, most of our GPUs were able to run it smoothly at 1440p/Max Settings. The only GPU that was dropping below 60FPS was the NVIDIA RTX 2080Ti. As for Native 4K/Max Settings, the NVIDIA RTX 4090, RTX 5080 and RTX 5090 had no trouble at all running it with over 60FPS. The AMD Radeon RX 7900XTX was also able to push framerates over 60FPS. On the other hand, the AMD Radeon RX 9070XT is able to provide a smooth gaming experience, provided you use a FreeSync monitor.
Graphics-wise, Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties is nothing to write home about. Most of the time, the game looks great. However, there are areas where the game can look kind of bad, mostly due to major GI/lighting issues. The devs acknowledged these problems and said they will be fixed in a day-one update. Moreover, the character models are more detailed in this Kiwami Remake. However, the cutscenes appear to look even better than the game itself. Since the PC requirements are so low, the devs could have used the same cutscene-quality graphics during gameplay.
For those wondering, the PC version appears to be fine. I did not experience any major stutters. There are also proper KB&M prompts, and the PC controls are fine.
All in all, Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties is not a visually impressive game. It looks great, but it’s really setting the bar of what current PCs can achieve. Thankfully, it can run great on a lot of GPUs. So, the good news is that a lot of people will be able to run it. This is perhaps one of the most boring PC Performance Analyses I’ve done. All you have to do is look at the charts, and that’s it. There is nothing more to add!

Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2.
