Bethesda has just released the beta version of Patch 1.2 for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered on PC. Moreover, the team has shared its full patch notes. So, let’s see what this update brings to the table.
The devs added some new difficulty settings. Now, players can change how much damage they inflict and receive in combat. In the Gameplay menu, you can choose from these options: Novice, Apprentice, Adept, Journeyman, Expert, and Master.
Update 1.2 will also make the game more stable. From what we can see, the devs have fixed numerous crashes. For instance, they have fixed crashes that could occur during auto saves. They have also fixed crashes that could occur while fighting Jyggalag. Plus, they have addressed various GPU crashes.
Bethesda has also made the game run better. Or at least, that’s what the patch notes imply. For example, they fixed frame rate drops that happened in various areas. They also reduced how often the game stutters while exploring the open world. On top of that, they improved the weather system and made character animations smoother. So, the game should now feel more stable and easier to play.
And that’s not all. The devs have fixed a cursor slowdown when enabling high frame rate V-Sync. Weather VFX flashing while outside has also been fixed. Plus, there was a bug that could cause the shaders to not preload due to cloud save replication. This issue has been fixed. Water will no longer disappear while you fast travel. And, for those who wanted to use Intel XeSS, the devs have fixed some flickering shadows that could appear with it.
Like always, Steam will download this latest update the next time you launch its client. Well, that is if you’ve opted in to the The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered Beta update. To get access to it, you’ll have to open your Steam Library and navigate to The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered. Then, you’ll have to right click on “The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered” and select “Properties”. In the new properties pop-up window, select “Betas”. In the beta drop down to opt into, select “\[beta]”. And that’s it. Steam will then download the new beta patch.
Finally, here is the complete changelog of Update 1.2!

SETTINGS CHANGES
We’ve added additional difficulty settings to allow players to further tune their “Player Combat Damage” & “Enemy Combat Damage”. Players can now select from “Novice”, “Apprentice”, “Adept”, “Journeyman”, “Expert”, and “Master” options in the Gameplay menu. We hope the “Journeyman” setting, specifically, will act as a better bridge between “Adept” and “Expert” for players.

At least they got several of the criticisms tackled with this, but how much they're worth is to be seen. Hopefully they upgrade it to UE 5.6+ at some point (not really expected) and keep working on performance.
A beta patch for a beta game …. nice!
