Hangar 13 has released the August 28th Title Update for Mafia: The Old Country and shared its full patch notes. So, let’s see what this new patch brings to the table.
The August 28th Update makes the game look better and fixes some visual problems. For example, it removes ghosting issues in some cutscenes when using upscaling. Hair now moves more naturally in cutscenes, without the weird flickering. The update also improves lighting, effects, and fixes popping and clipping in different cutscenes.
For those using DLSS Frame Gen, there is a fix for an issue that could cause it to randomly stop functioning during gameplay, requiring a game restart. As such, you can now enjoy the game with DLSS 4 Frame Gen. From what I’ve seen, there are still some visual artifacts. So, don’t expect a stellar image like those we’ve seen in other DLSS 4 games.
The August 28th Patch also makes some gameplay improvements. For example, it fixes problems where companions like Luca or Cesare wouldn’t do what they were supposed to, which sometimes stopped progress. If this happens, just reload your last checkpoint to fix it. The patch also removes invisible walls, fixes missing or misplaced cover spots in combat, and improves how enemies react, move, and fight. Friendly and neutral NPCs also move, act, and animate more smoothly now.
For what it’s worth, this patch does not add the promised Free Roam Mode. It also does not appear to have any major performance optimizations. So, don’t expect the game to run better.
Like always, Steam will download this update the next time you launch its client. Below, you can also find its complete changelog.
