Hangar 13 has released the first two hotfix patches for Mafia: The Old Country. These are small updates that will fix a few bugs. They will not add new content or bring any major overhauls to it. So, let’s take a closer look at them.
The first hotfix patch came out on August 13th. That hotfix addressed an issue where ground textures were missing when playing on certain GPUs. This is something for which a lot of players complained about. So, it was good to see the devs reacting so quickly to it.
The second hotfix update came out yesterday. This new hotfix improves the game’s performance during cinematics transitions when using Unreal TSR. It will also change the default value for Cinematic Framerate to Unlimited instead of 30FPS for new players. Plus, it packs some general stability improvements. As such, the game should be more stable than before.
Speaking of Mafia: The Old Country, I can confirm that the latest NVIDIA drivers introduce major visual glitches to it. These visual issues occur with both the NVIDIA 580.97 and the 581.08. On both my NVIDIA RTX 5090 and RTX 4090, I was getting artifact lines all over the screen, as if the GPUs were malfunctioning. The good news is that I was able to fix this by reverting back to the NVIDIA 580.88 driver. This driver works like a charm with Mafia: The Old Country. So, make sure to use that driver until NVIDIA fixes this issue. I’ve already informed them so hopefully we’ll get a hotfix driver.
Like always, Steam will download these two updates the next time you launch its client. Below, you can also find their full changelogs.
Stay tuned for more!
