Alan Wake 2 Anniversary Update Released, Full Patch Notes

Remedy has just released the Anniversary Update for its latest horror game, Alan Wake 2, and shared its full patch notes. This Update is 20GB in size on PC, and it includes The Lake House expansion for the Deluxe Edition owners.

This latest patch brings new Gameplay Assist functions to the game. For instance, there are now options for Infinite Ammo, Infinite Batteries and Immortality.

The update also finetunes Flashlight Boost’s usability. Shooting should now feel better while boosting. This is something a lot of players complained about. So, kudos to Remedy for at least doing something about it.

Moreover, Words of Power are now easier to unlock as they accept a wider angle from the flashlight. This should help especially with that one Word of Power in the Oceanview hotel. Plus, the PC version now has optional support for Motion Sensor (Gyro) controls while using a DualSense Controller.

The Anniversary Update also packs a number of bug fixes. For example, it fixes an issue where while trying to shoot while recharging batteries would sometimes trigger a melee attack instead. It also fixes an issue where the player was getting pushed towards (instead of away) enemies upon hit if they had the flashlight equipped.

Like always, Epic Games Store will download this update the next time you launch its client. Below you can also find its complete changelog.

  1. Almost forgot it was out today. I was thinking it would be the end of the week. I finished the previous DLC last weekend and I think it started strong but got a little too far out of the spooky theme towards the end. I'm interested to see how the story wraps up but im also disappointed that it doesnt seem like they've added native FSR 3 after all this time.

        1. for real. I wish people would just move on to things they enjoy instead of digging up stuff they didnt even care about to begin with.

  2. A game that could have actually sold if the developers didn't focus on graphics above everything else.

A game that only ran on RTX cards. Incomprehensible decision.

    1. That's not true tho.

While the game initially had functional performance only on Turing+ and RDNA2+, either modded with VKD3D for patched, the game now has functional performance on Polaris, Vega, RDNA1 and Pascal. Probably Maxwell 970/980/980 Ti also.

      FSR3 FG further helps.

      1. While the game initially had functional performance only on Turing+

Initially? The game launched in October 2023. It took until March 2024, to finally add support for non-RTX GPU. And the game still ran like **** on GTX GPU.

That is 6 months until players with GTX GPU could play the game. That's a bit longer than "initially". By then sales were already dead.

Blocking most gamers from even playing the game through hardware restrictions, and making your game Epic exclusive, is one of the dumbest decisions I have seen to date, it's up there with Concord.

        1. They already got paid as if it sold millions so they don't care. That's the thing about these exclusive deals. They just get paid to make a game and don't care if anyone plays it. Because it's always been JUST about the money.

          1. Makes sense. At this point "store exclusives" have become a telltale sign there is something wrong with the game. Epic apparently comes forware with a bunch of cash, to the point sales or updating your game, don't actually matter much anymore.

          2. Yeah, I first noticed this with Metro. So even if the game doesn't sell the devs/publisher make as much money as if it did sell. At that point I realized that, if you pay the devs money to make a game and never put it up for sale, they would be more than fine with that.

      1. look technically rtx 2060 has ray tracing but in actually most 2000 series cards and all amd cards cant actually both play the game and do ray tracing.

    2. Don't forget the epic games store exclusivity (and still is exclusive to EGS I believe) on PC and digital only release on consoles up until recently. Oh, and working with sweet baby inc was also a somewhat poor decision, but maybe that's must me, Idk.

      1. It amazes me that they came over to PC with the same mindset on consoles. Exclusivity bs is the worse thing to happen in gaming. They just keep making all the wrong decision.

        1. Remedy relies on exclusivity because it bankrolls their development. MS paid for AW1 and Quantum Break, Epic games paid for AW1 remastered (hence why the original is on Steam and GOG, while the remaster is still an EGS exclusive 3 years later) and AW2. Laughably you don't see Epic taking their 'principled stance' against Steam's 30% cut on PS or XB since they initially made it a digital exclusive on those platforms.

        1. I'll take your word for it as I haven't played it. What I also forgot to mention is that apparently a fair bit of the game does NOT involve the titular character, but some race-swapped FBI agent.

      1. Exactly what we can expected when someone is writing a politically correct story, leaves zero room to make a good and entertaining story as some of the mentally ill will look and find a reason to cry about it – That said any sane person should ignore what the asylum and good game haters on x, ign or sbi are having the latest meltdown about

  3. Aside from WCCFtech, this site has hands down the most retarded comment section I have seen on the internet. Is there any game you don't whine about?
