In December 2024, we informed you about the new game from Warren Spector, the creator of Deus Ex, Thick As Thieves. Thick As Thieves was announced as a PvPvE game. However, the devs have decided to turn it into a co-op single-player game.
OtherSide Entertainment claims that this sharpened focus has allowed them to make the game’s dynamic stealth gameplay stand out.
“We’re already seeing how this has strengthened the moment-to-moment action, whether you’re playing solo or with a partner in co-op. We’ve had some fantastic moments while testing the game. Now we’re putting all our energy into making things even better as we build up to launch.”
The big question now is whether its story will be worth it. After all, this started as a PvPvE game, and most PvPvE games have lackluster stories. So, this is also something OtherSide should focus on. You can’t simply turn a PvPvE game into a great single-player game.
From what we’ve heard so far, in Thick As Thieves, players will be able to hide, sneak, and steal their way through the ranks as they match their cunning against rival thieves in an immersive living world of stories and shadows.
Players will delve into the city, a world rich in characters, stories, and mystery. They will learn about the powerful, the criminal, and the craven as they break into their strongholds and steal both their gold and their secrets. Moreover, the will explore their own personal storyline, mission by mission, and shape their destiny and journey.
There is currently no ETA for when the game will come out. However, a new trailer for it will air during the Triple-I Initiative on April 9th.
