Valve’s official Facebook page: “We’re also still making games”

Now here is something interesting. The official Facebook page of Valve Software has just posted, stating that the company is still making games. While Valve did not reveal any additional details, we strongly suggest tempering your expectations.

Valve is well known for its Half-Life and Portal series. The team is also behind Team Fortress 2, DOTA 2 and Left 4 Dead 2. However, the company has been focusing these past years on Steam rather than on game development.

Now I’m pretty sure that a lot of our readers will say it so let me be the first one… “Oh my God, Valve is developing games. Half Life 3 confirmed. Left 4 Dead 3 also confirmed. They will be using the Source 2 Engine. They will be the best games ever.” Yeah… regarding Half Life 3… not happening.

We don’t know what Valve is currently working on. Perhaps it’s a new IP? A sequel to a beloved franchise? Or a new game influenced by the modern-day games like PUBG and MOBAs?

Here is hoping that Valve will reveal more details about its upcoming games sooner than later!

      1. If they do a Half Life I would also bet money it be called “Half Life” and they will call it a full re boot(start fresh), just like the two new Tomb Raiders titles.

To tell you the truth if they did this that be epic, well if it was as good as the new Tomb Raiders and not worse than the old Half Life games. Personally I just want new tech and no loading screens, the loading is a killer even on my NVMe M.2s.

        1. New Tomb Raider is boring trash that plays itself. It’s basically Uncharted, except without the impressive graphics and the soul in its writing (UC1-3, RIP naughty dog).

          >new tech and no loading screens, the loading is a killer even on my NVMe M.2s

How long are load times in HL1 on a SSD? 1 second?

      2. No no, they need something much more original. Let’s say “Half Life: Origins” or “Half Life: Revelations”.

    1. It looks like CSGO will have a Battle Royale mode in the future
It just happens that Overwatch is a Team Fortress 2 Clone

    2. A PUBG clone perhaps, but there is no need of an Overwatch Clone, in fact Overwatch is an overhyped clone of Team Fortress 2

  1. Its a game distribution simulator. You play the role of the lead protagonist, Gaben. You can customise him with a wide selection of golfers shirts and beards. NOT THE GLASSES. The object is to see how quickly you can gain monopoly against your competitors. Your score doubles every time you manage to create a conspiracy theory on the internet which mostly involves tricking people into thinking you still make games. Triple points if you can convince just one NPC that your company does not care about money at all.

    1. “Triple points if you can convince just one NPC that your company does not care about money at all.”

Triple points? That should be a win condition. Call it diplomatic victory.

  2. Gaben confirmed during a Reddit AMA in late 2016 that they are working on three VR games. Since then we’ve heard nothing.

      1. It already did, with commercial releases two years ago. They are currently working on their tracking 2.0 tech which will release later this year and constantly updating and bettering SteamVR. Sorry to break your heart.

  3. Portal 3, Left4Dead 3 and Half Life 3 confirmed…. well I doubt it 🙁 , one can dream though.

Makes me wonder what they are working on? My hopes are at like 0.1% out of a 100, so yeah. Will see I guess when and if it happens. I am not going to lie, if they dropped those three titles above all pimped out in modern tech and SP games(with maybe optional co-op) I would freak out and probably everyone else.

  4. Well it is confirmed they are developing three new VR games, quite possibly for an Orange Box 2. Also we already know about Artifact their new Dota card game.

So whether they are referring to those fours games or some other ones only time will tell.

  5. They announced almost a year ago that they are currently developing 3 completely VR games.

If you think Valve isn’t making games, after they explicitly revealed that they are, you’re an ignorant moron whose opinion doesn’t matter.

Google it. Valve making 3 VR games. The first link is from 02/17 on Polygon.

Whether you personally consider those to be games or not, they’re video games.

    1. They were also officially making HL2 Ep. 3 at one point. They can “make” lots of things internally, it doesn’t help anyone if they never release anything. Face it, they haven’t released a game in many years. What was the last one, Portal 2? CSGO? It has been many years since Valve has released a game, that’s a fact and them talking about their fun projects for an extremely small audience two years ago and then going radio silent about that stuff, too, does not inspire hope.

      1. I may be remembering it wrong but I think Gaben said before HL Ep2 was released that Valve planned a series of episode releases into the future. That is one of the reasons that gamers expected an Episode 3 at least. That and also Episode 2 ended with a cliffhanger which is exactly what a Developer would want to do to make gamers want the next episode even more.

Gamers forgive Gaben a lot these days because they like Steam so much now but he has done some sh*tty things too.

  6. Vive pro and HL3 isn’t too much to ask is it?
If they made it as good as HL2 with updated graphics engine and amazing story, They could charge $100 just for the game and I would still buy it!

  7. I wonder why Valve hasn’t tried to develop an RPG. It would be interesting to see their take on the genre provided it had no micro-transactions.

  8. If valve starts to develop anything similar to pubg or fortnite, i guess it’s time i delete my 12+ years account, and go to their hq and set them on fire.

  9. Valve is probably working on its own version of PUBG-> makes huge E-sport tournaments. game comes very popular.
They had some Dota based Card game in works ? Artifact i believe.

    Other titles included would be:
    Half life away.
Portal: Colliding of Blue and Orange
Left 4 dead -> well title explains it perfectly
