Tomb Raider I-III Remastered offically coming to PC in February 2024

Aspyr Media has announced official remasters of the first three Tomb Raider games that will become available on PC in February 2024. In order to celebrate this announcement, the team shared the first gameplay trailer which you can find below.

According to its description, this collection will allow gamers to play the complete experience with all expansions and secret levels on modern platforms.

Tomb Raider I-III Remastered will feature better textures and better 3D models. However, the geometry/environmental detail looks to be similar to the original versions. In other words, expect polygonal environments like those you played all those years ago. Moreover, you’ll be able to switch between the remastered and the original graphics at any time.

Tomb Raider I-III Remastered will release on February 14th, 2024.

Enjoy!

    1. There’s the openlara for the first one, and automated fixes for TR2-3.
Rest of them don’t need that much tinkering around (except for aod).

  1. A bit strange to create a remaster of the original Tomb Raider game, when we have a full remake “Tomb Raider: Anniversary” made by Crystal Dynamics.

Still, I might be interested to play the remastered TR 2 & 3 games.

    1. 😒 Anniversary is a loose remake, there was still a big void now fulfilled by this kind of rework that much closer to the source.

    2. Anniversary and everything else made by CD is utterly garbage. It is clear you haven’t played core design games, otherwise you wouldn’t say something as dumb as this.

    3. Anniversary is based on Prince of Persia style autoplatforming while in the OG you actually had to control your movements.

    4. From the trailer, I can already tell I prefer way more the look of this remaster than Anniversary, which didn’t capture the mood of the first game.

  2. They’ve massacred the atmosphere with those tasteless textures. This is what happens when you hire low IQ teenagers who think their sh*tty 8k textures fit games like fallout or skyrim.

    1. The original atmosphere is crap, you need nostalgia vision to enjoy it, but don’t take this comment as an endorsement of the remaster.

  3. OMG!!! Wow! And thank god they updated the lighting/shadowing (and models) because the originals were sooo low poly count and lighting/shadowing were sooo rudimentary and the textures so disjointed that it made it hard to even understand what the f*ck you were looking at in many areas, i had to look hard to get it lol, plus the stiff movement, always found it really hard to play and desisted short after starting, never could play it back in the day.
Also the graphics toggling will be amazing to compare the differences on the fly.

    1. The controls look unchanged. You’re not going to like the way Lara moves because it’s the same as it ever was, from the looks of it at least. They didn’t change the map geometry so her movement must be pretty much the same, if not exactly identical.

      1. Would be nice if they provide the option for direct control in addition to tank controls. But I suspect that would have been highlighted in the trailer were it the case

        1. How would air control while jumping work with “direct controls”? Also it couldn’t apply to crouched movement because you need to be able to crawl backwards to hang off a ledge sometimes. Or how would ramp sliding work? Could you turn around without jumping? TR’s movement is pretty complex and got slightly more complex with each sequel on top of that. It’s not as easy as just giving you “direct control”. That’s why all of that complexity was lost when they made the Legend trilogy and never recovered after.

      1. The gaming industry has been infiltrated with and infested by communists who are open about pushing their social and political agenda. Anita Sarkeesian has been consulting with game devs for over a decade on how to push third wave feminism into gaming.

You tell me to grow up, I’ll tell you to pull your head out of your @ss

        1. Anita is just a puppet, the reality is ESG funding that incentivizes companies to push agendas in their games such as ugly women

          1. Ya there are major forces/people pushing this crap across pretty much every industry. But game developers are also insanely woke, which is a major factor. Go check the Twitter feeds of Harvey Smith (Arkane), Cory Soylog (Santa Monica), Tim Schafer, or David Jaffe just to name a few.

          2. Oh no doubt, but most of those losers just sold out because they want a piece of that ESG pie. I remember in the 2000’s when guys like David Jaffe and Cliff Bleszinski pandered to frat bro culture when it was popular/profitable, then they sold out when the wind blew the other direction.

  4. This is great news. And I’m really glad that they kept the blocky look.
I’m not even sure I would have liked a very realistic remake.
This upgraded look + better controls = best version of Tomb Raider ever.
This will be even better than the fanmade engines like OpenLara, I think.

But yeah, I agree that TR4 needs to be added.
I hope it’s not again a stupid copyright issue or some nonsense like that.

Cherry on the cake: if this gets moddable and we can make the TLRE levels compatible, this will be perfect.
