Another year, another disappointment for all Half-Life fans. You see, a lot of HL fans have been expecting Valve to reveal Half-Life 3 at the Summer Game Fest 2025. And, to the surprise of no one, nothing related to the Half-Life universe has been announced at that event.
The reason I decided to write this article was because a lot of HL fans would be wondering whether there was a hidden announcement they missed. So, no. You didn’t miss anything. Valve did not reveal Half-Life 3.
A lot of rumors about HL3 surfaced in the past couple of months. We saw rumors suggesting that the game is in the final stage of polishing, and that it could be played from start to finish. We saw rumors suggesting that an announcement was imminent. Then we heard that HL3 would be the final part of the franchise. And we saw rumors hinting at a Summer Game Fest 2025 reveal.
You know whatโs even crazier? Earlier today, some people were actually tracking Gabe Newellโs yacht. They thought it was heading toward the Summer Game Fest. This was a sign that Half-Life 3 was real. Valve would make the promised announcement. The day is here. And no, Iโm not joking. Thatโs how desperate some fans were. It’s nuts.
And I know what some will say. <<Well, John, the PC Gaming Show is on June 7th, and Half-Life 3 is a PC franchise. So we might get the announcement at that event>>. To those, all I have to say is this. Would Geoff Keighley pass this huge opportunity? Not in a million years.
But hey, if Valve does announce Half-Life 3, I’ll publish an article with 500 words in which I’ll keep repeating the sentence <<I’m an idiot for not believing.>> Spoiler alert. It won’t happen.
All in all, you should stop torturing yourselves. Half-Life 3 has become a joke at this point. Valve may be working on it. Or they may have cancelled it yet again.
Until you hear it from Valve itself, you should simply forget about it. After all, we’ve been getting a lot of great PC games lately. So stop the copium and start playing some games. It will do you some good. And when – and if – Half-Life 3 gets announced, it will be a pleasant surprise!

Valve will do their own event
Half-Life new game is a real thing, it's not the end of Half-Life franchise, it's going to be the end of the Half-Life 2 arc. Are we going to see another HL game after that?! to be honest i don't think, the majority of HL fans are now on the 30 and late 40, the new gamers are into this new bs games… The announcement of the game is going to be a surprise to everyone on 2026/2027. And i didn't wait for an announcement on the Summer Game Fest 2025. I don't know for sure, but there is a very small chance on the game award we got something… if the word is still the same.
I don't think something will happen in the GA either, Valve will probably just tweet something and drop a trailer with a close release date, they did the same for HLA and CS2, their 2 latest major releases

All this hype for Summer Game Fest was dumb AF and miserably optimistic, but HLX is a real thing and there's definitely a SP none-VR HL game in development at Valve, and there's proof that it's advanced enough to avoid cancellation. But except that, no one knows sh*t

I still remember an almost-convincing rumor that emerged 10 years ago now in 2015 saying that Half-Life 3 will be released in Q4 2017 (literally said "Q4 2017" and not like October or December 2017), and yet, here we are, 10 years later in 2025 after that rumor emerged and 8 years after that supposed "Q4 2017 release date" and we saw absolutely nothing since then, no confirmation nor denial from Valve, nothing, just nothing. And the rumor obviously turned out to be false over the time without anyone going back to point out that it was fake from the very beginning.
And let’s not forget that there was a kind of a letter from the guy/head who was writing the script to the game which gave an ending to the Hale Life story.

Why would it be at a games show? I believe ga e himself it would just show up as one of those screens when you start up steam or just release a trailer or something. If they showed it at a games show it would just make everyone forget about every announcement.
