Skyrim fans, here is another must-have mod for you. While the game supports uncapped framerates, it locks your refresh rate to 60Hz. Thankfully, though, SlavicPotato has released a mod that can unlock your in-game refresh rate from 60hz to 300hz.
The ability to use high refresh rates is crucial for those that want to enjoy the game with higher framerates. In case you weren’t aware of, a 60Hz game will feel like a 60fps game even when you’re having higher framerates. As such, this mod is a must-have for those with 120Hz or 144Hz monitors.
According to the modder, the plugin is passive. This basically means that after it performs the patch, it immediatelly unloads so there’s no additional overhead.
Last but not least, the modder also suggest using the HavokFix SKSE plugin. This plugin is said to be an easy all-in-one performance-optimized solution.
You can download this refresh rate unlocker mod for Skyrim Special Edition from here. All you have to do in order to install it is drop it into the SSE install folder.
Have fun!

Skyrim’s physics have always broken at any framerate over 60 and I doubt this mod changes / fixes that. It’s been like this for a decade so if it was really fixed that would be BIG news. I suspect that the linked mod merely applies the same config tweaks that have been floating around forever and that simply don’t work in my experience. Merely *reducing* the number of weird physics glitches is not a playable outcome imo. Any physics craziness at all means you can never just rely on the game working as intended, you can never be sure some quest item wasn’t flung around a room etc. There’s technical things to worry about as you’re playing and that ruins any immersion. Add to that that the framerate won’t stay over 100 fps with ENB and I say just cut your losses and lock to 60, truly fixing the physics, and never worry about it again.
You may be somehow right, but this particular mod uncaps REFRESH RATE, not FRAMERATE…
FPS and HZ goes hand in hand.
You’re not going to benefit from “uncapped refresh rate” without unlocking your FPS beyond 60. And doing so f*cks up the physics in Bugthesda games.
But there is a guy who knows how to tune the physics to work even with 144FPS, I just don’t remember where it was but I’m sure it can be find on google.
You’re probably thinking of the HavokFix linked in the article above. But reading the comments on that mod many people are having problems with it.
I think it was related to the same thing, that fTime value or whatever, I just saw a guy explaining it on Reddit maybe a few years ago.
You may be somehow right, but this particular mod unlocks REFRESH RATE, not FRAMERATE.
The description on the mod page itself claims that it only removes a 60fps fullscreen mode cap from the game. However this doesn’t mean that the game can run at higher framerates. Doing so will still break it. The mod author recommends downloading the HavokFix to fix physics engine stuff and doesn’t recommend going over 119 fps.
TLDR: Title is misleading, you still can’t run Skyrim on higher framerates
