This Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain mod lets you play in first-person mode

Real_Mindmaster has shared an updated version of MXMSTR’s first-person mod for Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain. This mod works with the game’s latest version (v1.0.12.0) and lets you experience the whole game from a first-person perspective.

As Real_Mindmaster noted, this is a Snakebite file, meaning that players will have to unpack it, install it via Snakebite and start the game. In order to enable the first-person perspective, players will have to press the down arrow and V (or the button you have assigned for zooming) simultaneously. In order to disable it and return to the third-person perspective, players will have to press the up arrow and V.

This First Person mod for Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain is pretty cool as it will let you experience this latest Metal Gear Solid game from a different perspective. Which, funnily enough, reminds me of the TGS 2005 trailer for MGS4 (in which Kojima gave a glimpse of what a MGS game in FPS could have looked like).

Those interested can download the First Person mod for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain from here.

Have fun everyone!

    1. A variety of technical reasons. From what I’ve heard regarding RPCS3 it was designed heavily around the Cell processor, to the point where quite a few of the PS3’s graphics functions are only used in that game.

Beyond that there’s the obvious licensing issues with the Apple products everywhere. I mean, since when is Apple going to allow the protagonist to have an iPod Classic in 2014?

        1. I’m talking about the product placement. Snake has an iPod, Otacon has a bunch of iMacs on the plane and a MacBook later on, that sort of thing.

      1. Didn’t include MGS4.

MGS4 was in the Legacy Collection, but that was only released for PS3 so no porting was required.

  1. WOW, this is really interesting for me, as I can now give the third-person view a miss.

But, I think some of the action/stealth/RPG games are better played and enjoyed via a THIRD-person view, instead of FPS, imo ?

    Nonetheless, nice modding effort though.

      1. THE MOMENT YOU REALIZE YOU DON’T HAVE ANY POINT TO MAKE AND USING OVERUSED MEMES AGAIN AND AGAIN TO GATHER ATTENTION OF YOUR LIFE HAHAHAHAHAHA YOUR COMMENT HISTORY SHOWS WHAT A BIG FAT PATHETIC FILTHY PIRATE LOSER YOU ARE AHAHAAHAHHAH

This is how you sound like, you dont even try anymore.

    1. So, now you have started disliking even Game Developers, publishers and directors ? I don’t get it.

I thought your biggest hate was only PIRACY, and the related pirates, but guess not?

FYI, Metal Gear Solid 5 is one of the best PC ports made (if not THE best), and the game isn’t garbage at all. It is well optimized for the PC hardware.

Some may dislike the overall gameplay, as well as story line, but there are others who really enjoy it to the fullest, including myself.
      .

  2. People can say what they want about MGS V but Kojima and his team developed one of the best ports out there. Yeah perhaps it wasn’t the best graphics ever but those view distances, those animations and character models etc. They were all pretty great. Too bad Death Stranding is probably a PS4 exclusive.

  4. I still have this pending because I haven’t played Peace Walker, I have a copy of that one lying around and my dusty PS3.
